I purchased this ball a few months ago and wanted to wait a bit before I gave a solid review.

14# Storm Drive
Layout: 5 x 4 x 2 (same as my Timeless)
Surface: 3000 grit abralon (OOB Finish)

What I expected: I expected this ball to be about a 4-5 board difference from my Timeless and give me a little different entry angle into the pocket on the fresh.

What I got: This thing needs oil, and LOTS of it. It's easily 8 boards different than my Timeless OOB, and my Timeless is no quitter. I had a hard time trying to throw this ball in my home center due to the lower volumes we use. I did use it for a bit at our state tourney due to the high volume, but even then it was jumpy off the break point.

What the plan of attack is: More than likely, I'm going to have to take this ball up in surface to 4000 and polish it.

Conclusion: This thing would be great for someone who is speed dominant that needs something to move, or the low rev/low speed guy that plays down and in.

I would take it to 4000 and throw t first before adding polish. Remember adding the polish is going to make t snap harder. If you want to polish it I would go 500/2000 then polish

There are a few people who have drilled up Drives and they are all saying the same thing, that this ball is STRONG. Like REALLY strong! Every person I know who throws one has had to polish theirs. I think the idea of taking the surface to 4000 is a good idea. Do that first before polishing and then if the ball is still too much, then add polish.

Oh of course. I've also thought about the idea of taking it to 1500 polished just like the Timeless and letting the coverstock be the only difference. Gotta do something, this ball is just too dang much for most patterns.

I have kept my Drive at the out of box surface. I love the way it rolls, nice and continuous. True that it does like some volume on the lanes. It performed really well for me at the USBC Open Championships. Had a great line to the pocket with it when I used it.
