Recently this site is very slow. It takes longer than any other I go to. Why? Any ideas?

I noticed the same thing. It kept timing out on me several times for over a half hour. I figured maybe it was down for maintenance.

I think you were right about them doing some work on it. It is fine now and at the time it was the only site that would not load fast. I noticed it before and wondered why they don't have some kind of notice.

If it's scheduled maintenance I'm sure there would have been a post. If it was a virus, hack or some of their server equipment when arye then they were probably just doing what had to be done to fix it. It could have also been a circuit issue from the LEC / service provider. It was hard down for a while last night I noticed, couldn't even ping it. Even if there was a post we wouldn't have been able to read it anyway. Typical scheduled maintenance is between 11pm-6am or even a tighter window depending on policy.

We should be back up and running now. We had scheduled routine maintenance took a bit longer than anticipated.

We do apologize for any inconvenience that this caused anyone.

No need to apologize. I'm getting like the kids anymore everything should be instantaneous. Once I noticed it was the only site that was slowed down I figured it out.

At least you guys care enough to do maintenance, many don't. Having to reload a page a few times and wait a bit is hardly what I'd call an inconvenience. No apology needed, keep up the good work!

LOL No problem, if there is one person on this site that understand this it's me. I've caused many outages on regular basis during maintenance window that effected thousands. You gotta do what you gotta do. I've even caused a couple uh...unplanned ones. All it takes sometimes is to bump a cable that wasn't crimped just right and BAM! 10,000 customers out of service! Whoopsi doodle!

The worst I ever seen was our director (the big cheese) was down with us supervising while we were doing our monthly generator test. He sees one of those huge lever switches on the wall that anyone with a half of brain knows "DON'T TOUCH THAT!" and he said "What's this do?" and pulled it down. All of us were in absolute shock and couldn't believe our eyes. He took our entire main switch site in Chicago down. That in turn took down every link across the entire country that was ran through Chicago down too. 33 switches throughout the US were tied through Chicago.

So in the beginning of the day on a Tuesday there was anywhere from 3-5 million+ customers out of service. It took upwards of 18 hours to get everything back up and running. We had trouble tickets for weeks because of it. I said "Well.... I think you're soon going to find out what that switch does, I'm pretty sure it just turned off your paychecks! It was nice working with you." Less than twenty minutes later he was in tears while he was escorted off the property by the police and banned by the FCC from ever working in telecom again. What on Earth was he thinking? LOL I never seen someone turn that ghost white so quickly once he realize what he just did. That still blows my mind to this day.
