So I'm not on Facebook but wife is. She sent me a screenshot today. In last nights league at our center one guy bowled a 300 (226, 258, 300-784) and another bowled an 844 (299, 269, 276). I'm in the Tuesday night league but bowled with these guys in the summer league.

My teammate shot his career high game last summer (175 avg). All strikes except split in the 4th and xx7 in the 10th. I matched him frame by frame except I got all 3 in the 10th. Beat him 265 to 261
Never had 11 in a game before. So close yet so far. We won the season team handicap game

Not trying to belittle those people's efforts, because it's much better than I could ever do. But one night we had almost 6-300 games. (2 of those games were 298/297) And almost weekly someone shoots 800. I'm in the hotbed of bowling in the south near Atlanta. Like most other people around here, the ATL area is made up of people from around the world, so it's no surprise to me that my league of 120+ bowlers averages about 205 as a league average. And no, it's not a scratch league. To me, that's amazing. Has the game gotten THAT easy?

Last year 2 guys on the same team both rolled 300's in the same game. So far this year we have only had 1 300 in my league and that was my teammate back in January but we have had 4 299's this year. I bowl in the summer league too and I think last year we had about 9 or 10 300's in a 3 month league (1 guy had 3 of them) but all the top bowlers show up for that since it's a bigger money league. We have 40 teams in that league 2 per team so 80 bowlers a night.

In all honesty this can be so dependent on the shot that is put down. Years ago I was bowling a scratch league in Arizona and we had the second highest total honor scores in the nation for that year - now while you could try and make the argument that a high level scratch league could do that, we also filled just over half the house (looking at something slightly higher than 100 or so bowlers). There were many 215+ averages that couldn't sniff that once the league folded (due to drama about our cap per team) and there were multiple honor scores shot by bowlers who frankly are not close to that level. So while aspects of bowling have become easier (and some requiring more thought) I would argue that in many situations it is that the house shot has become easier in many places and once you put bowlers on a harder condition they find that there is still a lot of challenge in the game.

This is a tough league. After 12 games my average is 176. I am 65th of 77 bowlers that have at least 12 games in this year. Scores seem to be down across the board but high average is 233. 176 isn't very good but I'm only ahead of 12 other bowlers? Geez. And this is a mixed league.
Still only 1 300 so far after 4 weeks. One of the guys had a 297 the other night. But I really need to step it up. Been struggling the last 2 weeks. I sit out next week (2 man teams but 3 of us so we alternate)

2 more guys rolled 300's last night in our summer league. That's 3 so far in 5 weeks. Another guy rolled a 299 at the end of the night. Oddly averages are down this year across the board by 10-20 pins. Even the owner of the center is down 20 pins and the PSO is down 10 pins. Not sure why but it has been tough. I didn't bowl last night as it was my turn to sit out but my teammates had a tough night again. We are 25th of 39 teams right now. Last year I think we finished 6th. My one teammate finished last year at 209 and is now at 198 and my other teammate was at 198 but now at 180. I was at 177 and now at 176 but my game has improved alot since then so that difference should be even bigger considering. Just no consistency. Seems you have to hit your mark perfectly or you split or leave a corner pin. Teammate left a bunch of 4 pins last night. Sort of reminds me a little of the sport pattern I played on a few months ago.

EDIT: Just checked the updated stats. We need 12 games in this league to held a current average. There are 79 in our league with at least 12 games. I am 74th...lol. My current average is 176. Absolutely horrible

Well I just looked at our results and see we had 3 300's tonight in our league. Wow. Maybe someday I will get one...lol
