So, what are your goals for the upcoming league season?

My leagues start this week. I am only bowling on Wednesday and Thursday evenings this year dropping my usual Tuesday night league. I started golfing over the summer and want to continue so I felt the best way to do so was to drop one night of bowling during the week.

So for this year my goals in my leagues are as follows:

1. Increase 10 pin conversion rate to at minimum 90%, last year my conversion rate dropped to 87%. My single pins are at 93% total. I got better at other single pin spares last year.
2. Get another 300
3. Get another 800
4. No sets under 600 - this one is pie in the sky and one I do every year. 7 sets under last year, 5 under the year before that.
5. No new equipment unless I get a ball that cracks or filling a VERY specific hole within the arsenal. LOL!!

My goals are incredibly similar. I'd be happy with overall single pin conversions at 90%. I was at 89% last year, down from 92% the year before. 300/800 are always goals, close last year but didn't get either. We'll see! Number one goal though? Enjoy myself.

I've only been bowling about 5 years so my spare shooting isn't great but slowly getting better. So here are my goals.

1. Bring the average up to 190+, I finished my combined average at 187.

2. Single pin Spare conversion to 85% or more. Finished only 80% last year.

3. 10 Pin conversion bring that up to 80%, finished only 72% last year.

4. 300 game

My goal for this year is to be able to keep bowling even though I have bad knees which causes me to have no approach. Last year was my first year for that type of bowling. I hope to bowl better this year with that style of bowling. I have a different arsenal now. I got rid of my Hammer reactive Raw Anger ball and my Blue Hammer urethane ball. I changed to a Columbia plastic ball called the Lava ball. I also re-entered my Columbia yellow dot ball which I bought in 1978 when I got on a mixed league. It is one of the bleeder balls. It is a good compliment to my Columbia plastic ball. My speed ranges from 6.5 to 8.00 mph. So I can't use aggressive balls anymore because I don't have the speed to counter act the ball from hooking too much. This is the way things are for me now so I have to accept it. I like it too much to give bowling up. I have been bowling for 35 years. I am 72 now and want to keep bowling as long as my body will let me. My teammates are okay with my new style.

I have a few goals for this season. I came back after a 16 year layoff last year. Finished my first fall league at 173 (was 193 when I quit in 2002). Finished last summers league at 177. Finished years fall league at 179 then finished the summer league last week at 188. So my average has been increasing each league so I expect that again.

Goals:
1) finish with a 200+ average
2) get to 80% overall spares and 85% single pin (finished summer league at 65% and 72%)
3) reach a new all time high (currently that is a 267 from a few weeks ago)
4) bowl a 700 (highest so far is about a 665 from about 20 years ago)
5) get better at adjusting to lane conditions
6) have our team win the championship

I just can't seem to get in the goal setting mode quite yet. Since I seem to still be finding myself after the surgery/left handed bowling, 'm going with: Make it through the season without extreme elbow pain, surgery, or having to go left handed (this means elbow close to body). And since my only focus right now is to post my shots, we will go forward after I feel this one is somewhat under control.

We start Friday morning, and Monday evening.

My #4 goal is already out the window. LOL!! Just like last year, gone in the first week. Now I can just look to improve my number throughout the year.

So I started two leagues this week. The 9:30 a.m., three game league where I had to leave after the first game to go an have an echo-cardiogram, and the 12:00 noon 4-game league where I missed the first three games because I had to have a chemical stress test. The good news; Tues I shot 198 clean after ten minutes of warm-up, and today I shot 191 with no practice where I covered everything except a split in the second frame, and a ten pin after a four-bagger in the eighth (the first one I attempted today). All in all, off to a good start. BTW, I passed both cardiac tests, clearing me for sinus surgery in October!

Started my league this week- 219, 204...and the last game was a garbage fiesta of 153. But at least this gives me a handicap to start it off.

I sure hope you're kidding about the last part!

Well, the league is out of 200 (it's a chill league), so i'll be looking at probably a 8 handicap.

Even if it’s strictly a social league, the handicap basis needs to be raised.

Just learned it's 100% of 210 (hoo boy...) so we're gonna have some straight up weird handicaps this season.

My fall league is 90% of 230. Summer league is 80% of 230. We have a couple guys in the summer league in the low 230's. Fall league we have about 10 in the 220's but don't think any are in the 230's.

After 3 years off, my goal is to carry 210 or better. That's what I finished the 2015-2016 season with. My weekly goal is the same that has been mentioned - stay clean.
