There is sandpaper for sanding wood and the other is for sanding metal. Which one would I use on my bowling balls? I use two plastic balls and one urethane ball. The balls I use are in my signature. I do my resurfacing by hand. I guess it should be wet or dry sandpaper.

You want Wet/Dry Paper, But Most people these days use pads ( Abralon, Siaair, Trucut etc.) for sanding balls. Paper is a lower cost option and you can now get it in P-Scale grits like that used by pads.

I use paper (plus pads) quite often, I usually get 3M Automotive Wet/Dry (Walmart, Autozone etc.) Big sheet cut it into 4 pieces.
