Been watching some old videos from TV shows and looks like these guys bury their thumbs in their ball. A few times I have put my thumb in too far and it doesn't end well. Either it hangs up or just don't like the feel. Just wondered what others do. Maybe I should 'bury' my thumb but need to open my thumbhole up?

Key word here is "old." In the old days you had to bury your thumb and rip your hand out of the ball. Today, the thumb comes out first, and the more time until the fingers come out, the better. You really should stop looking for the magic wand to fix your bowling, and get some lessons so that you know what to practice. There's no magic, just hard work!

And I wondered about them being old videos. Was just curious cause I noticed if I put my thumb in too far it results in a bad shot. Just wondered if it was something I needed to talk to my PSO about or not.

I wasn't watching them for educational reasons. Just entertainment. Love watching older movies, etc so watched some 80's era bowling matches

Basically the old matches are for entertainment value only. There are a few key differences in the bowling environment that you have to keep in mind including the nature to which we make (or should make) adjustments these days and lane conditions (including surface makeup).
