It's not uncommon to have a PBA bowler bowl in my Thursday league....I mean Tom Hess is a regular bowler on one of the teams. And, it's a higher level men's league...lots of "staff" level bowlers. I mean, our anchor is on DV8's staff.
But tonight, Osku Palermaa showed up to bowl on Tom Hess's team and Osku bowled a perfect game his second game.
I'm not a big fan of 2-handers...so I never really followed Osku's career much...but it was still cool...ya just never know who is going to show up and bowl in this league.
One of our bowlers in the league...who was on the adjacent pair...bowled his 2nd or 3rd 300-game of the season. Gotta be cool to put up a perfect game on the pair right next to the pros.

That would have been pretty cool. I bowled with Mark Roth about 18 or so years ago but back then I didn't know much about him and had never even heard of him until he started running our local center. But I think back today and wish I had been aware of his status in the bowling world. Would have been much more cool to do that today.

In my second or third year of bowling in a sport league, the format was two bowlers to a lane, four games, and you moved after every game, so you bowled with one person all night and had two new ones each game. We had at that time a number of young men and women from Sacred Heart university who would either bowl or sub on a regular basis. One night when we got to the last game, I said to myself this kid looks like Rhino Page. Turned out it was Rhino who had stopped in to Buddies Proshop and was hanging around and one of the regular league bowlers asked him to sub.

Yeah, bowling is cool like that where big name pros can sometimes just show up and bowl against you.
I bowled a tournament in California and Missy Parkin showed up. It was like a 7-9 game tournament and I remember seeing her name near the bottom of the standings after the first couple games. But I knew that wouldn't hold up...and by the later games...there she was soaring up the standings. Once the pros figure out how a given pattern and house plays...its just about repeating shots and making proper adjustments...which is their bread and butter.

It would be cool if a pro would show up at our place. It was like that in racing too. My son raced karts for about 10 years. At nationals a few pros would show up and race in his class. A few Nascar drivers and a bunch of Indy car drivers would come and run nationals. At nationals we always pitted with Mark Dismore (IndyCar) and Erik Jones (former Nascar). Never really talked to any of the others too much but saw them there. The others we talked to alot was Ryan Tucker (St. Louis Rams and Cleveland Browns-his kids raced with us) and Sage Karam (IndyCar). It was cool cause if you didn't know who they were you would never know who they were...lol. Well Karam was only about 10 at the time so he wasn't a pro yet. And I talked to Ryan Tucker for a whole year before I ever knew he was a former NFL player.

Both the Ebonite and Columbia 300 Facebook page mentioned the 300 today and had video of his last shot.
Couldn't find a YouTube link of it, but here is the link from the Ebonite Facebook page.
