Well here it is the start of the new season and we just had our league meeting. Even though the plague is running rampant I'll give it try.

You don't have to wear a mask while bowling or at the table if you have food/drink (Basically like how it is at the restaurants here), there are sanitation stations around and tables are cleaned/sanitized etc. I'll bring my own hand sanitizer

The meeting went fast the local Assoc. spoke first said cards were the same price and let everyone know about the rules about weight holes and up coming meetings.

The rules went fast basically just kept the same ones from last year no changes.

I needed two bowlers for a full team, We got one he's a good 200 average bowler. Hopefully we get a fourth next week. At the moment there are 25 teams out of what was a full house league of 32 teams. We'll see if we pick up any more.

Here's Painting blood on my bowling bag hoping the specter of pestilence passes us by, now have to come up with a new team name. Maybe the "Contagion Commandos" or "The Outbreak Bowlers"

Best of luck with the league! We have been bowling a short session summer league for the past six weeks now. It has been "okay" but not super fun. It gets us out of the house for a couple of hours each week.

The local association never comes to our meetings. It is usually the bowling center hosting the meeting, setting up the rules, helping get officers selected, etc. My bowling center said they are leaving it up to bowlers to deal with the rule changes that went in to effect on August 1st. They are not going to go out of their way to enforce them or remind people of them. At one point, the pro shop had 30 balls lined up on the work bench getting extra holes plugged, so as far as they are concerned people are aware of it. Uh, okay.

For the start of our summer league, the bowling center did the whole thing over the PA system and didn't want us gathered/huddled together. Worked out OK. The scoresheets are now printed at the desk at the end of the night and handled by the bowling center. That way there are no issues of scoresheets being handled multiple times by multiple people. The league money envelopes are still the same.

All the local pandemic guidelines have pretty much been thrown out the window at this point, unfortunately. There are only 2 hand sanitizer stations in the bowling area of the 48 lane center. People are maskless, hugging, giving five, sharing food, etc. I stay masked up, away from others, and do my best not to touch anyone else. Definitely no eating or drinking while bowling.

They came around during league last night and started getting everyone signed up for winter leagues. Sounds like it is going to be business as usual despite what the state is mandating for activities like bowling. From what we have been hearing, bowling center patronage is down drastically. People still see it is a very risky activity and do not want to set foot anywhere near a bowling center. Based on what I have witnessed the past few weeks on my league, I don't blame them one bit.

I am hanging with it for something to do. There is no telling when it will be taken away from us again so I try to enjoy my time there as much as I can.

Yeah I don't feel bad about this start after sitting out so long. The pattern so far isn't bad, which I attribute to the new Flex oiler they got.

Well I got a full team now! We picked up two ladies that bowled on the league last year, they ave. about 150's. The only thing is they are both left handed and throw backup balls down the right side.

First and third games weren't too bad, but that second one. Everyone on the pair their games took a nose dive big time, there were so many splits.

I changed balls half way through and wound up moving 15 boards left, before I found something.

Wow, I’ve seen a few lefties who throw pretty straight at the 1-2 pocket and a few righties who throw a back-up ball up the left side, ( one of whom I thought was left handed until I watch his full approach ), but never a a lefty back-up down the right side.

Yeah the one gal would stand far right and roll the ball (A Motiv Venom Shock I think) basically straight down the oil line (8-10). It would hit the breakpoint and turn toward the pocket. The other basically was just throwing at the pocket (1-3)

Now there was a guy years back on my mens team, He was a lefty that rolled a backup ball. He looked like a righty bowling, playing the same lines and using the same layouts.

Over average for the night, But not happy overall.
Game 01 Pocket 10's, adjust, then leaving 4 pins, adjust, 3 basically lucky strikes, garbage.
Game 02 change ball make some adjustments, 6th frame get P.O'd start gunning the ball down the lane and start striking, so heck keep firing the ball down the lane.
Game 03 The speed started to vary some and lane s changed a little.

Please be careful tracking scoring average by pair. I did this for the first 2 years after moving to Vegas in 2004. I stopped doing it when I found that the pair averages began to be self-fulfilling prophesies... when I expected a low score, I often got it!

I don't track my average by pair, the earlier graph posted is the average per pair produced by the entire league. It's tracked by the league Sec. software (which you can see if you check standings on leaguesecretary.com.)

I use too track it long ago, but it didn't tell me much that I didn't already know. The lanes used more for open bowling were different than the ones less used. An d that my average per pair just leveled out over time.

It meant a little more back when the lanes were wood, But when the houses all went synthetic the difference between lanes was basically marginal.

We started our Tuesday league yesterday morning. Big difference is that we are bowling on one lane with and empty lane on either side of us. We are competing with the team to our right which is bowling on their own lane (we bowled on 41 against a team that was bowling on 43). Bowling on one lane brings a whole new set of adjustment requirements into play due to the speed of the transition and the effect of other team members on your line. I missed one move, and shot 226-127-231! Gonna be a challenge!

MEH Was fishing the first game then switched balls for 2 & 3. I think I need a new plastic ball now, The current one is cracking too much around the thumb now and its 15pd and I want to drop it to 14

Well this wasn't a bad night, The first game I feel was real solid I was burying the ball in the pocket.

I was checking some of the other graphs on leaguesecretary com I hadn't looked at before. According to the league average by week comparison, I've been beating the league average every week! that was surprising.

Plus I've beaten the leagues lanes averages with the exception of just lanes 1-2, 3-4.

As for league game averages, I've easily beaten the 2nd and 3rd games league averages, The first game I'm lower but only by 3 pins.

Okay, first outing with the new Pyramid Force Unleashed It's got a pretty good roll! first game was getting the feel of it and break that cover in a little. The second game it really lined up, That last shot though I had to wait for them to fix the lane. Third game I had to start really moving left but didn't go far enough fast enough.

Well had a pretty good night 632 series. The new Force Unleashed is a beast!

Started the night off my ball and several others got stuck in practice after only two shots, when they came back they were covered with I don't know what. I hadn't seen this stuff before, the balls were all rough feeling it was like dirty rubber cement. I wasted all of practice scrubbing the ball off.

Wasted the first six frames getting warmed up, But then the ball started exploding down the lane. I was getting all kinds of pin carry.

Last six frames though the ball was getting pretty dirty, Haven't seen that happen in a long time and it started skidding a little more. Last couple of frame (9-10) I put it outside a little more and got it to finish better.

I am so D***ed mad at myself, I broke my own rule and I let myself get distracted by my GF who was bowling bad and started CRYING and I threw away a game Because I was trying to help and encourage her. I've had this happen so many times in the past, I made a rule to ignore her when she starts that BS, Because trying to help and encourage her doesn't work it just makes my game go to sh** Sorry for the RANT!

Well not great but not bad, First game started out slow. I had freshened the surface up using the OOB 2000grit, this was the first time sanding it. I seen the ball needed to break back in a little, A bit of lane shine I think let the ball match up better to the conditions. Last game wasn't sure of my adjustments and my speed started varying a bit.

Wow, Was I having to roll the ball up hill Rob? Topography biting me in the ###? or just wicked backends?

This was pretty rough tonight, I was standing left going over third arrow and I could not get (or would just barely get) a ball on the right side of the head pin. I've felt I've been doing a little better the last few weeks, better speed, swing, getting out of the track area now this.

Others were having problems also, The guy that was my teammate on the sport league was on the other team. he's a lefty and his ball was struggling a gut to get back to the pocket all night, His first game was a 90! Second game he got a little going for a 156, But third game back down 93.

Then to top it all off I had just got a new spare ball, dropped weight so it matched my others since I went to 14#. Had to get use to it got some better speed on it now.

Our center went with the Qubica tablet style scorers a few years ago. They had really needed to replace the old consoles for a few years. I wonder how durable these new consoles will turn out to be.

Okay they got the new Sync One system installed, It will take a little getting use too. It has some interest features, like its connected to the internet. when we got done bowling it sent a email to me (the house has players email address from the rosters), showing my games and scores, frame by frame.

There's a phone App its called Openlane that tracks your bowling strike and spare percentages that sort of stuff, your team mates. Theres bowling games you can play against others, theres one that sounds interesting where you can set up specific spares to shoot at but only at houses that have that certain system to do that. You can earn point for shooting games, league bowling, open bowling that you can use to get stuff.

Not sure how accurate the speed readouts are at the moment though. plus other house related stuff.
