Well some of you know that I am an active day trader and I have a debit card tied to my smaller account and today noticed that account was down about $300. Looked at my transactions and there were 5 charges that weren't from me. Called TD Ameritrade and there was actually a 6th that hadn't posted yet. Total was about $300. 2 were from some cosmetics place, 1 from Bodhaige (apparently another cosmetics place, 1 was a $100 door dash gift card, one was for $23.24 for Red Eye Diner (looks like Charlotte) and one from apple.com. Very frustrating. They are refunding my money but deactivated my card and are sending me a new one. I haven't used that card since late February but I do have it tied to my CAT scale app on my phone. Last Wednesday I went to Canton, Ohio to tow my step-sons new camper back and we stopped at a truck stop over there to weigh the truck and camper. I didn't have to pull my card out but did have to authorize payment from the app. Had to have happened then. I'm more aggravated about my dislike for thieves than I am over the $300

Criminals can totally drain the account connected to a debit card. Beware

I had my credit card charged for something at best buy but got a email from best buy saying it was ready for pickup. had to cancel card and get new one. It's horrible stuff like this happens. I changed all my passwords on everything and got new cards. Steve

Yeah all of these transactions were done on 3/30. I check the account balance at the end of every day when the market closes and noticed it was short. I didn't make any trades out of that account for a few days as I was trading my other account so the balance shouldn't have changed. New card is on it's way.

We recently got rid of our Walmart debit card. It's gotten hacked in the past but they did remedy the situation. However as of Jan 1 they announced they are no longer providing fraud protection. Nice huh? If anything they should have added better protection.

Everyone who has those cards was notified which I'm also assuming includes the criminals. Needless to say we quickly moved everything to our bank. How stupid of Walmart! Nobody in their right mind would bank with them now. SMH

There were actually more charges that went through the nest day. Total was about $537. They said they will reimburse me so that's good. The 2nd set of charges was another $85 to Boadiache, and another about $45 to Bodaiche, $101 to Auto Zone and $20 to apple.com.

We only have 1 credit card and haven't used it in about 6 or 7 years other than putting about $500 on it towards my sons rehearsal dinner last year. Other than that we have 2 debit cards. One usually has alot more in it than the other so we will usually use the smaller account when buying things. At the most there might be $500-700 in that account so that's the loss limit there. The one that was hacked was my TD Ameritrade trading account card. I hardly ever use that one but did tie it to the CAT app.

That really stinks! I have fortunately never had to deal with cards being hacked, but know people who did, and it's nasty stuff. I hope you get it all sorted out.

Well all of my funds have been replenished by my bank and my new card came today so all back to normal for now I guess. Really would love to get names of those that had fun with my money so I could have some fun myself...lol

I'm glad of that, and I don't quite blame you, haha. I wonder if they like the taste of bowling ball? Yummy. (Especially Storm, I'm sure. They do smell good.)

Bowling ball would be one option but only if they quit hitting my fist with their face long enough...lol

Well got hit again. This time for $84. I was issued a new card after the last time it happened. Yesterday I ordered something online for my wife for X-Mas then tonight got an alert for $84 charge for Island Cuisine in Towson, MD. Called and had the card shut off again so now have to wait for a replacement. What saved me this time is I had set up alerts on it so the alerts are instant, like within 1 minute, so as soon as I got it I called them. Last time I didn't notice it until 4 or 5 days later

So cancelled my card last night then tonight took a road trip to Erie, PA and while there got a text saying my purchase for $55 from Papa Johns in Towson, MD was declined. They tried running it through twice then tried a 3rd time but it was $58 this time. Still declined. If I hadn't had those alerts set up that would have went through too as I probably wouldn't have known about it until Monday or Tuesday. That charge from last night still hasn't shown up so no way to know. I'll probably see it Monday or Tuesday. Googled it and Island Quizene is only about 1 mile from the Papa Johns they were trying to order from.

See, I told you that you have money! If you didn't you wouldn't keep getting hacked. When the hackers break into my account they feel bad and start a "GoFundMe" instead.

lol. I day trade options and this card was linked to my TD Ameritrade account I trade from. I have 2 accounts but the card is only linked to the smaller account. But I don't think they have any idea how much is in an account when they get the numbers. I trade in a couple of discord channels and see guys that are making up to $5000/day every day. One guy even made $4 miliion one day and a million each day before and after that. A guy in my one discord made over $10,000 this past week. I'm small time...lol. I'm happy if I make $200 for the week...lol

At least they didn't hack those overseas accounts where you keep your real money

Well wife texted se got an AT&T alert that someone tried to buy $1069 but the text looked fake so she ignored it. It wanted her to call a number and enter a code. A few minutes later she got another text from our credit union saying they denied a $1069 purchase due to lack of funds (there was only like $30 in that account cause we're broke (see what I did there Phoney?...lol). So long story short the charge did not go through but ironically I just got my new cared in the mail today to replace the one from the acct that was hit 2 weeks ago and on the same day I get this card they hit our other acct. She ordered from Amazon last night with that card. Our next door neighbor works at that credit union and is the one my wife talked to so she is just going to bring the new card home with her. But yeah, hit twice in 2 weeks now. And top that off with the police chase past my house Tuesday night...lol

I've never seen anyone get hacked as much as you! Some hacker you arrested before you retired that just got out? You need to call in Adrian Monk to find these guys.

In the meantime, get your money out of the banks and store the cash under your mattress, in a coffee can or in your case a 55 gallon drum or two. (See how I dismissed your "See what I did there?") Nice try

You have had a long week I'll give you that. Always exciting at your house.

Yeah. My mothers got hit about a week ago but her bank declined the charges so no harm done other than she needs a new card now. It's happening hard right now everywhere. Be careful out there.

So I have Visa purchase alerts set up on my cards and left the one set up for my old card that they had hacked and I had cancelled. Just got an alert that they tried to charge 4.34 to it but it was declined...lol. Hopefully they paid money off the dark web for this and got nothing for it.
