clean games?

So if you go clean up to the 10th and strike to start then split the next ball is that considered clean? My app says I had a clean game tonight but I struck in the 10th then left a 6-8 split in the fill and whiffed on that one. I assumed it was not a clean game?

I wouldn't consider it clean. Even though it's the last ball that you whiffed it's still not a spare, it's an open. Now if it was a double in the tenth then you threw the split, you didn't get a strike but it's not an open staying clean. Actually it wouldn't even be called a split, just an eight count.

That said if it was a double and a gutter ball, it's still technically clean but I wouldn't be walking around bragging showing everyone a printout. LOL

Yes, it's a clean game. Clean games are based on 10 frames. 11th and 12th are considered extra bonus frames. As far as I know, it's always been this way.

The 11th and 12th "frames" are fills, not true frames so . . . yep, clean game.

As the other have said.

If you strike or spare on your first ball of the tenth, then it's considered a clean game the fill ball doesn't count.

But in thing's like clean game pots (or apps), it may depend on if they have their own local definition.

But using the classic definition, then yes you had a clean game.

You only have to get one spare or strike in the 10th frame to keep the game clean.

The "Bowler's Guide" defines a Clean Game as follows: A game with spares or strikes in every frame.

What you might be seeing is the 'house rules' in terms of pots or anything? Sounds like the 'official' rule is fill frames are exempt. But like any 'club' or group you can make whatever rules you want?

Yeah, it was for a 30 clean pot in a scratch singles sport league.
