Big change from last week. No miss room at all. Both teams struggled except for a guy on the other team that rolled a 300-811. I started with the Zen Soul and could strike when I hit the pocket but every few shots the ball wold take off through the nose. Tried the Helios and same thing. They have a guy on the other team with a 225 average that is a high rev 1 hand lefty and he was having similar issues. He only rolled a 615 and was telling me some of the things he tried. There were tons of splits tonight on all lanes. In fact a guy a few lanes down picked up the 7-10 tonight.

Man I really need to get this figured out. My 1st games after 3 weeks are 169, 182, 179. Average is 194 right now.

So started the night with the Altered Reality targeting the 10 board. Same thing as last week. As long as I didn't get inside 2nd arrow I was good. Any bit inside of that and it would go Brooklyn. Timing and form felt really good all night. 2nd game switched to the Zen Soul. Same thing but 3rd game I moved 1.5 boards eight so was standing about 23 and targeting 10 at the arrows and about 7 at the breakpoint and that was working well. 225 last game.

Had 7 splits tonight. One of the league guys came down and said the last 6 lanes were polluted with splits. We were on the end pair. I know our pair had to have had at least 25-30 splits between the 2 teams.
My spare game was pretty good other than my splits. I was 5/5 on single pin spares and 6/7 on makeable spares.

A little better tonight but should have been even better. Missed a few spares that I shouldn't have and in crucial places. Finally had a good start. Been struggling in game 1 until tonight. In the past my first game was my best.
Lanes were a little wetter that usual. Used the Zen Soul all 3 games. Our team bowled well but we still only won 1 of 3. Our scratch scores were 1047, 996 and 1031. Theirs were 948, 952 and 1036 but we were giving them 66 pins per game so we only took the first game.

Yeah we are 4 weeks in and my last week of summer league I rolled 893 4 game series then first week of fall rolled 638 3 game series so thought I found something. Then followed that up with 519 and 583...lol. But then the 655 last night. The nights I'm on seem so easy then I follow that up with a low 500.

Used the Zen Soul all night. Won the first game and total pins. On a positive note was 3/3 on 7 pins but missed a 5 pin and a few other spares I shouldn't have missed.

Tough conditions tonight. Hit the pocket pretty consistently but kept leaving corner pins. Tried the Zen Soul, Igniter and Raw Hammer pearl. Moved as far left and right as I was comfortable with. No change. Both teams struggled with the exception of 1 or 2 guys. Sucks going from a 733 Sunday to a 559 tonight. Even worse considering I was throwing the ball pretty well.

Rough night. No oil at all. It was very warm in there so not sure if that was why or if there was an issue with the machine but it wasn't just our pair. Started with the Zen Soul then tried the Raw Hammer pearl then the Helios. Couldn't keep any of them on the left side of the head pin. Even threw the T-Zone. Stood in the same spot I normally stand with my Zen Soul and threw it a little harder than usual and it hooked right into the pocket but had no power behind it. No strikes in 3rd game with the Helios (short pin) so 9th frame went back to the Zen Soul and moved in and threw hard and struck in the 9th, 10th and 11th. Hit the pocket in the 12th but left a 7 pin. We lost game 1 but won games 2 and 3 and total pins.
10th frame killed me tonight. And only 12 strikes all night. I average about 19-20 strikes per night so struggled there.

So-so night. Team started out great but then a few teammates started struggling and we lost games 2 and 3. I was pretty consistent but had a few screw-ups too. I had my Zen Soul at 3000 and Altered Reality at 2000. Lanes were a little wet. ZS wouldn't hook. Threw the AR till about the 7th frame of game 1 then tried the ZS till about middle of game 2 then back to the AR. On a positive note I was 100% on single pin spares.

Another tough night. 202-165-176. Since last time I resurfaced my Zen Soul I'm only averaging 186 with it. Prior to that I was averaging 204 with it. Gonna touch it up with a new 3000. The one I used last time was a little worn

Started off good. Couldn't hit the pocket in warmups but made a move at the start of game 1 and found something. Used Zen Soul all night after hitting it with a slightly worn 2000 (my 3000's are too far gone and ordered new pads yesterday). Hit a tough stretch in the middle frames. Game 2 much of the same. Kept it clean. Game 3 slipped in first frame then tugged 2nd frame. 3rd frame was too fast then finally got it right. Splits and opens killed that game.

Still a good week. If you could stay away from the bad shots and misses could have been 700. I had a similar week went 153 with three opens no doubles and a bunch of horrible counts then went 258, 236 with no opens. This has been my season so far. Still you had a good night. Steve

So I should be thrilled with my night but although it was good I got worse each game. Ordered new CtD pads so freshened up my Zen Soul with a brand new 3000. We were on the end pair. First game started with 10 strikes then missed inside in the 11th for a 287. 2nd game was good except for a couple of frames. 227. Game 3 I struggled in the right lane oe a couple of frames then moved in a couple of boards with my eyes and feet to salvage a 208 after leaving the big 4.

Never rolled a 300 before and was right there. Wasn't nervous.

Up until my return in 2018 my highs were about 265/660. A couple of years ago I rolled a 279 and a 725 in different weeks. In the past 6 weeks I have rolled 290, 287 and 279 with 733, 722 and last weeks tournament rolled 1239 over 6 games with 3 games in the 240's. Just a matter of time before I get that 300. Bowled about 50 games with the Zen Soul so far and averaging 207 with it. Take out about 6 games where I had the wrong surface on it due to not having the right pads and over those 40-ish games I'm averaging 218 with it. Just matches up to my game really well.

Game 3 I finally got my timing in sync but left a big 4 and missed a 7 pin.
Lost 2 of 3 games after losing all 3 last week and we are one of the higher average teams in the league.

Probably the ugliest 650 I have ever bowled. Missed way too many spares and strikes seemed hard to come by. Had to be very precise to strike. Any other night would have easily been a 700. Used the Zen Soul all 3 games. Another horrible 7 pin night...0/3. Was 1/5 last week. Need to figure that out. We have had a horrible 3 or 4 weeks. Think we have went 0-7 the last 3 or 4 weeks. We were in last and bowled the first place team tonight. Won all 3 so that was nice.

yeah i had been at about 80% on 7 pins but last week was 1/5 and last night 0/3. I keep missing inside. Missing my mark at the arrows too. Thinking it's a confidence thing. Possibly mechanics. Granddaughter has a birthday party there Friday night and my focus will be playing more inside, which is a weakness of mine, and picking up my corner pins

Gotta be honest, I have considered quitting. Last week my scores were horrible. For the past month we have only won 2 or 3 games out of about the last 15. Last week the team we bowled had the highest handicap game and series. Happens to us EVERY week. No different tonight. First game the other team bowled was 40 over their average. 2nd game they were 60 over their average. First game we were 60 below our average but 2nd and 3rd we were over our average and still lost 2 of 3. We have the 2nd highest handicap total in our league yet we are in last place. Just getting tired of losing and with me struggling it just isn't fun anymore.

Tonight we had 6 of us there. The approaches felt like they had tar on them. We were all sticking. Heard other teams complaining about it too. I bowled 139 the first game with only 1 strike. Was in the pocket almost every shot. Sat out the last 2 games as there were 6 of us and I just wasn't into it and really didn't care how I did at that point.

It's crap when a house gets like this. Ours seems to be cleaning their act up, and the lanes have gotten better over the past few weeks. A ball change may have helped that....

So tonight was extremely dry. Started out with the Zen Soul and the first few frames of warmups I could keep it on my side of the lane. That ended quick. Left 5 splits in a row. Tried a few adjustments with speed, moved right. Moved my target. Moved in further but struggled to get the ball back. Game 2 stayed inside with the Zen but still inconsistent. Switched to the Helios in game 3 but struggled at the start then made an adjustment that worked and finished with the last 8 or so. Adjustment was to move in to the 25 board and target the 10 board at the arrows. Normally I stand about 20 and target 10. Very unusual for me to move that far right. The Helios is the only ball I can do that with. None of the others will come back from there. Helios is drilled 90 x 2.25 x 45 so very short pin. Still missed too many easy spares too.

We pretty much bowled our average every game but still lost all 3.

Again, we lost all 3 games. There is a 215 average lefty on the other team that was struggling too but he rolled a 670 but said he had a very tight line. Not sure how he ended with a 670 as I saw him struggle quite a bit.

My frustration is more with my performance over the last few weeks and not being able to figure it out or taking way too long to figure it out. On top of that my team has only won like 3 games of the last 21 or so. We are in last place by alot.

I do think I figured out my issue though (hopefully). At my granddaughters birthday a few weeks ago I made it a point to throw the Helios all night and make it work. So I ended up standing near the middle and bellying it out but in my experimentation I found I needed to open my shoulders and hips to be better facing my target. I wasn't used to this since I never stand in this location. So in the process I found my balance was much better and the ball was closed to my ankle at release. So come back to league and move back outside where I normally throw and tried the same thing but kept tugging the ball. Once I stood more square I started hitting my target but the lanes were dry so couldn't get that to work. After I grabbed the Helios and moved further inside I opened my hips up and that's when I started striking. So I think moral of the story is if I'm playing down and in I need to keep my hips squared up but if I'm bellying it out I need to open it up. I know I have heard that and read that 100's of times but until I did it I didn't realize what it was...if that makes sense. So looking forward to next week to see if I'm back to my old self. But I am glad that I am finally able to open my angles a little more. Something I have never been able to do but oddly can only do with the Helios

A little better tonight. We bowled the 2nd highest average team in the league. We are 3rd highest average. That team is our PSO, the center owner, the highest average guy in our league at 238 but he wasn't there. We had a pretty good battle going tonight as both teams bowled good. They beat us by 1 pin scratch series and they were giving us 15 pins a game handicap. They have a 225 average lefty hi rev guy and the owner is a lefty so there were 3 of us on that side. They beat us 2 out of 3 but we got total pins. Game 1 we won by 74. Game 2 they won by 15. Game 3 they won by 15. We won total by 44. I threw the Zen Soul all night. Tried the Helios from the middle but wasn't happy with it. Targeted 2nd arrow first 2 games but moved my feet in 2 boards for 2nd game. 3rd game moved in to the 12-13 board but kept leaving 7 pins so tried moving out to the 7 board and had some success. Talked to the other lefty after we were done and he struggled game 3 also. I had 186 and he had 182. but he had a 676 series so beat me by 12

Night started out really good...till game 3. Used the Zen Soul and had a nice line. Standing 21, targeting 7-8 and breaking at about 3-4. Worked all of game 1 and most of game 2. Game 3 started going through the nose. Moved in and no hook at all. Tried the Helios from further inside and no hook there either. Couldn't get back to the pocket. Threw 3 splits in game 3. Had a decent shot at a 700, easy shot at 650 and ended up barely breaking 600. Seemed to start affecting my approach too as my timing ended up off later in the night and my balance was off. 100% my fault.

On a positive note, we bowled against my sons team. They won 2 of 3 bu the only has 21 league games in and has a 120 average. Tonight he rolled 446 and 186, both personal bests

well we were on my worst pair statistically tonight. My average on this pair is 15 lower than all but 1 other pair. Looking at my notes seems everyone struggles on this pair. Tonight I think all 10 of us were below our average. one guy on the other team rolled 614 and i think he is a 203ish average so he would have been the only one to hit their average. I tried my Zen Soul, Helios and I hit my Altered Reality with a 2000 before we started and ended up using that most of the night. Very tight line no matter what I threw or where I threw it. Only good things were we won 2 o3 and I made 2 of 3 7 pins. Also, oddly, game 2 3 of us on our team rolled 170. Our lowest average guy was 189

Interesting night. We were on a pair that I historically don't do great on. We were bowling a team that has a lower average than us but finishes 1st or 2nd every 1/3 (that was weird to say....lol). So one of our guys hurt his knee the other day but bowled anyway. He just retired and has a 195 average. He fell twice bowling tonight and was throwing 2 MPH slower than usual but he still beat his average. I started with my Zen Soul and struggled to hit the pocket and make spares. Struggled to a 141 but we had the game locked up in the 9th so I tried my Altered Reality that I hit with a slightly worn 2000 the other day. It wasn't much stronger than the ZS but had a little better entry angle. 2nd game was good. 3rd game was decent and we had won the first 2 games pretty handily but 3rd game we were down by about 10 or 20 pins going into the 10th. I struck out in the 10th for a 214 and we won by 13 so we took all 3 games. Thankfully first game when I struggled my teammates rolled 289 and 258. In face the guy with the 258 also rolled 258 in game 3 with a 224 in between for a 740. He has a 215 average. We have another guy with a 221 average that rolled 679 tonight.
So while my series sucked I'm glad I was able to figure it out and adjust to salvage a so-so night.

Horrible night. Vision seemed off. Not sure but just didn't seem right. If I bellied it out to the dry it would come back. If I tried throwing it straight anywhere it wouldn't come in. Missed spares killed me too. Could have been a 600 if I had made my spares. 2/7 on 7 pins and started out 0/5 but made the last 2. oh...and 2 pocket 7-10's tonight as well as a gutter to start game 2. Started with the Zen Soul then the Altered Reality then the Helios the last game. Finally figured out my issue and started with the front 4 in game 3 then left the 7 pin like 3 of 4 and 4 of about the last 6. Tried adjusting but no luck.

Re-surfaced my Zen Soul the other day then soaked it in hot soapy water last night and it was better tonight but for whatever reason I decided to tug 90% of my shots in the right lane. Had no problems in the left lane. Need to get back on track. Used the Zen Soul all 3 games.

Well I re-surface my Zen Soul to 2000 from 3000. Ball was definitely more responsive tonight. Problem tonight was the approaches were so sticky it was tough. Finally got the left side of the approach decent but the right side was still tacky. No way could I even think about shooting at 7 pins. Think I missed every one of them.
Started the night with the front 4 then stuck bad and tossed the 5th frame in the gutter but converted the spare. The 6th frame I 7 pinned but stuck bad on the spare and face planted across the foul line and guttered. The 7th frame I split so 3 bad frames in a row.
On a positive note got my first 600 since 1/24. We won the first and 3rd game and total pins

Much better night. Before last week I hadn't had a 600 in about 6 or 7 weeks. Re-surfaced my Zen Soul down to 2000 and went back to basics with my release and rolled 613 last week then tonight bowled a 652 on my worst pair. I was averaging 185 on this pair before tonight. Our whole team bowled decent. 4 of the 5 had 600's and the 565 was a guy with a 188 average so he was right there. We bowled 3196 scratch so decent night and won all 3 games. Tied for 2nd place now.

Back to the struggle. This was my 2nd worst pair behind the pair we were on last week. Tried the Zen Soul and the Helios. I was close to the pocket all night but had a very tight line with no miss room. Tried moving in and moving out. Spare shooting was pretty good tonight but couldn't strike at all. My 4 teammates are all 2 handed righties and I'm a 1 handed lefty. We were pretty strong first game except me and we won that game. The other team only had 3 games of 15 that were below there average. We had 9 of 15 below our average. Hard to win games like that. I think next time we bowl on that pair I will try my Raw Hammer pearl up the 5 board. Couldn't throw that line with the ZS or Helios as it would go Brooklyn. I tried moving right and throwing it out to the 5 board and that would work if it was perfect.

Really thinking of buying a Roto Grip TNT but thinking 900G will be coming out with a new ball soon so will likely hold off. Only about 3 weeks left in winter league and don't think I'm bowling summer league.

Well after winning that tournament the other day I had high expectations for league tonight. Lanes were a little tough tonight. Used the Zen Soul again all night. We bowled one of the top teams and there were no 700's. Pretty rare for those guys. Heard a few complaints about dry lanes but I didn't think they were that bad. But we had 3 lefties with 1 a very high revver. Game 1 I struck every shot in left lane but not at all in right lane. Game 2 made adjustment in right lane. Game 3 just couldn't strike. Mostly me not being consistent but was able to keep it clean in game 3.

4/5 on 7 pins. Last week was 5/6. Saturday night was 5/5 and Sunday tournament was 6/8 so good there. Lost 2 of 3 games.

Decent night. I say decent cause although scores and series was good I struggled with transition again. As usual started with the Zen Soul but game 3 started to struggle but took a few frames to make sure it wasn't just bad shots. Then made a move in a little and tugged it for a 4-7-10. Almost covered it. 4 just missed the 10. Switched to my Brunswick Igniter and struck out with it for a 205. I had 75 in the 5th frame. First game had a nice line for a 216. 2nd game 7 pinned in 1st frame then struck the next 10 or so for a 276. Teammate threw a 277...lol. But I had a 697 to his 692 so got him in the end...lol. We won the first 2 by quite a bit but game 3 the other team had a 200 guy roll 285 and a 170 guy threw 235. We were right on our average (1016 average and rolled 1015).

Rough night. Started out great but transition bit me fast. We had 2 other lefties on the other team and 1 is over 400 RPM. Started with the Zen Soul up the 5 board. Started game 1 with strikes in 6 of the first 7 frames then chopped 6-10 in the 9th then 4-6-10 split in the 10th for a 215. 2nd game started with the ZS and then tried moving in before trying the Brunswick Igniter. Kept leaving 7 pins with it so near the end of 2nd game went back to the Zen Soul and moved in. Took me way too long to get it but I had too many opens in 3rd game.
Team we bowled was on fire. They had 671, 670, 668, 647 and 640. We won the first game but got smoked the next 2.

So league is over except our end of year tournament next week. Our season was broken into 3rds. First 3rd we finished in a 4 way tie for 4th. Second 3rd we finished last. This 3rd we finished in 4th by ourselves. Sad considering we had the 3rd highest scratch pin count in the league (10 teams). We were 7th with handicap.

I finished at 197.66 with 96 games (18,976 pins). I struggled the whole month of February and only averaged about 185 those 15 games. I have a spreadsheet and took those out and my average would have been 200.16. Oh well. My goal was a 200 average. I'll get it next year.

So my stats. High game was 290 but that was in the state Sr's tournament. High league game was 287. High series was state tournament 733. League high was 722. Also in league had 276 and in tournaments had a 279. Won my first ever tournament and qualified 2nd in another tournament but got knocked out in the first round.

Lanes were dry so that didn't help. Spare shooting was horrible. Used the Zen Soul until about 6th frame of game 3 then switched to the Brunswick Igniter. Summer league starts in 2 weeks.

Really struggled tonight first 3 games. Lanes were dry and I had no miss room at all but most of the problem was me. Started with the Zen Soul and after about 3 frames it quit hooking so I moved out a little more. Tried the Igniter and the Helios but still no change. Moved to the next pair against a different team and 3 of the 4 of us were lefties and one was throwing a purple hammer. Tried the ZS a few frames but no different. Switched to the Helios and stayed outside of the urethane guy but he was spraying it in a 7 board zone between about 5 board and 12 board. Finally hit on something game 4 and rolled 264 and failing to break 200 the first 3 games. We lost the first 2 but won the 2nd 2 to go 4-4 on the night.

There were at least 4 300's tonight with 1 guy rolling 2 of them.

Good night tonight. Used the Zen Soul every frame except the last 3 where I grabbed my Helios and threw 3 strikes to finish game 4. First pair of lanes we were on were great for me. We moved right 1 pair and followed the same lefty we bowled last week that was using a purple Hammer. Not sure if that was messing me up or what but took me awhile to get it. 7 pins were killing me in games 3 and 4 and I wasn't doing very well picking them up either. We won the first 2 games but lost the last 2.

Actually seems better the lst few times but I only have maybe 15 or so games on it. I changed the surface a few times trying different things. Tried OOB, 5000, 3000 and think it's at 2000 now with some lane shine. Had been struggling with corner pins but lately it has been better but lanes have been drier than usual too. Mine is drilled short pin (Mo's minimal hook layout-90*2.25'x45)

Wife ended up having to sub so it was me and her. Started game 1 great but opened in the 9th and 10th to ruin that game. Game 3 started out rough. Had no miss room until about 7th frame I tucked my pinky and started hitting the pocket consistently. We won game 1 by 5 and lost game 2 by 7 so lost total by 2 pins. Struggle bus tonight. Worst night of summer league after 28 games. Average dropped 4 pins tonight. The only + I can take from tonight was I was 93% (14/15) on single pin spares (3/4 on 7's). Unfortunately I was only 5/8 on multi pin spares but my biggest hurdle was strikes. Struggled to find the pocket. Threw the Zen Soul 2 games then while sprinkling in the Helios. Ended up throwing the Helios the last 2 games just to try to blend out the pattern a little. Game 1 started decent but left 3 splits in a row towards the end including a 4-6-10, pocket 7-10 and 2-7. Made the 2-7-8 tomight. Not easy for a lefty but just threw at the 2-7 and was able to catch enough of the 8 pin to knock it over.
