whoa, slow down there killer!
the one major thing I see, is a lack of focus. Take a little more time on the approach.
The other thing, is that your arm is coming behind you on the backswing, a lot. You should be staying behind the ball until shortly before the release...and then turning your wrist. Focusing on a good backswing and release will help you stay more consistent in hitting your mark.

what about holding the ball at the side?
That's how I hold mine, I've also tried to throw as you're trying to do...but I've found I have more control holding it at the side.

what do you mean at the side??

let's say the ball is a clock......instead of my hand being at 6 o'clock (under the ball) like you're doing....my hand is at 3 o'clock, on the side of the ball. My thumb is pointing toward 10 o'clock
please refer to my crappy artists rendering

don't make fun of my paint skills lol

Holding the ball in this postion eliminates any need to rotate the wrist at the release...which in my opinion, is one less thing I can screw up lol

I think Jord may be on to something with the speed. I do believe however that each person has a speed at which they bowl, and its often easier to work with the speed than to change it. You can start with your ball start point lower to slow down your backswing which will slow down the rest of your approach...just make sure to adjust your step to accomodate the slower hand speed.

I'm curious have you always dropped a shoulder that much? I'd like to see a video of you keeping your shoulders square to the lane as well as to the floor.

also watch your side step...thats a sure sign of poor timing. I used ot have to do 20 pushups for a side step...you find a way to fix it right quick!

Since you said you were having a bad day, I think it would also be beneficial to watch a "good days" bowling videos.

thats the way i have bowled since i was 9, when ever i try to keep my shoulders square my ball go to the gutter, when i slow down my ball goes to the gutter, when i change anything except my hand it goes to the gutter. and where is the side step??

Interesting videos there. I think the side step he was referring to was after the release you step to the side. This is a sure sign of balance issues at the line. I have experienced in the past a great loss of power with a lack of balance. I think the biggest thing you could work on is not having that side step and keeping your balance at the line resulting in a more powerful shot. Like you said it was a bad night so hopefully that is just a bad balance night too. Best wishes and many strikes

Other than what's been suggested, you should try to keep your head level, it's hard to be accurate like that. Pretend you're trying to keep a book on your head.
