REVIEW:

Layout 4.5 Pin to PAP x 4.5 CG to PAP - NO weight hole
Layout 2 Pin to PAP x 4 CG to PAP - NO weight hole

The Fast is a great follow up to the Street Rod Pearl. Taking the same core and wrapping R2S around it has created a reaction that fits nicely in the Storm lineup. Compared to other current and recent pearls in the lineup this ball fits under the Second Dimension and Rapid Fire Pearl and is stronger than the Street Rod Pearl as far as total hook goes. The fast is definitely the cleanest ball through the front part of the lane in the current lineup other than the tropicals.

One advantage I have seen with this ball vs. the Street Rod Pearl was the earlier read and more assertive move off the end of the pattern…as storm says, the hot line has always been about giving you a lot of performance at a price that can fit most bowlers budgets, and this ball is no exception.

Some comments on the videos:

The 4.5x4.5 Fast gives me a great look on a fresh THS with friction right…its one of those balls where you can get in a comfort zone and have miss room right and left. The ball is strong enough to turn off the friction and recover on misses right, and because of the weaker core and also the very clean cover it is able to push in the oil. OOB it is a great fit on the house shot I see.

Taking the surface down to 2000 pushed me in to find more oil…R2S is a fairly strong cover, and with some surface it really shows…what I liked about this surface change was the fact that the ball still came around the corner and carried without an issue, even from a deeper angle….this is something I could not do with the street rod pearl.

The 2 x 4 Fast gives me a much better reaction than I was expecting, it smoothed out the look compared to the other Fast, but man does it go through the pins nice. This ball will stay in my bag as a backup on those nights when straighter seems to be the way to go…its nice to have the confidence to play that close to the friction and not be afraid of the ball over reacting.

Overall, I think this ball can easily match up with all types of bowlers…Don’t be afraid to change the surface to get exactly the look you are looking for, Storm prides itself on having some of the most versatile pieces on the market…and this ball is no exception.

Thanks!

Drilled this one 5" pin, 4" cg with a small hole on my axis...all i can say is wow! This ball would keep up with my 2D almost line for line. Really didnt think it would handle the oil in the middle of the lane as well as it did but I saw much improvement from the street rods in this aspect. The street rods were always a little too skid/flippy for me but with the R2S cover on these you dont see the extra push down the lane. Overall expect what youd expect from the best ball manufacturer out there, great ball with a great price! Will be drilling another one with a weaker layout, this ball should be perfect for second shift leagues and tournaments after the shot has been destroyed.

Wow does this have a smooth predictable backend . This ball keeps the pins low and gets them flying straight back . I am a stweener with a medium rev rate and this ball was well worth the money for me . I have a 5 by 4 on it and it hooks and stops on a dime and gets through carry downn better than any mid-priced ball on the market .

Wow indeed ! I did the same with my Fast . It's 5 by 4 with a small weight hole and awesome midlane and excellent turn . I woul give up my second over this anyday . Do you tweak the cover on your 2d at all ? If so with what . I tryed my ball at 4 ,2, and now at 1000 .

With the success I had with the street rod pearl, I couldn't wait to throw a more aggressive version of it. WOW, was I impressed!!! I drilled it with a 4 1/2 X 4 with a low hole. My axis is 4 3/4 and 1 up. The pin was drilled out to smoothen out the reaction a hair and it is still very angular down lane. The lane condition I bowled on was a house shot and on Viper. Once again a super clean read through the front and a very aggressive yet predictable reaction in the back. For that price point, no other company can compete... Bowl Up A Storm!
