u s open pattern

i am new to sport bowling and this week we r on the u s open pattern ,, i am thinking straighter is greater any ideas???

anyone have any ways to attack this pattern??? flat 25 ft buffed to 40

depends on the style.. I actually really like the pba open patterns.. Consistancy is key... Dont try to swing it too much if at all.. usually up 10-12ish works for me... speed is key as well

I've never sport bowled (but I would like to) But if you have a chance to practice on the open pattern then see what works best.
I think the open pattern is the wide 40 foot pattern, if so a norm duke or Parker bohn style of play always seems best. or maybe even a Walter ray style (That's the Style I use most):rolleyes:

This pattern changes fast. If you use sanded equipment you will punch through it quickly and create a bounce for your shot to stay on your optimum line. You may be switching balls by the end of game one. Not a lot of swing and accuracy are the buzz words here. At 40 feet you will want to exit the pattern between somewhere between the 7 and 11 board depending on speed and rev rate. The pattern plays "jumpy" to say the least especially on wood so use equipment that has a strong arc rather than skid snap. Don't feel bad if you only average 180.

My best look on this pattern was with a LaneMasters Black Pearl particle, polished. The ball started up well in the mid-lane and didn't over react. Weak layout.

it funny that you like using that ball... i also tend to lean to the pearl particles as well... i go throw back to the old x factor ace.. then to a pyro... both being pearl particles... both get through the heads very well and read the backs great...there is no over hook but more of a smooth controlable turn to the pocket

well as u all said straighterr is greater
definately no swing room shot 591 had 2 splits and a missed single pin 219 180 192 wasnt to upset for the first time on it
