At 8pm tonight half of a big tree fell across my car! :eek:I can't tell how bad it is,I don't think anything is broke as long as nothing shifts. Maybe scratches and dents, but I won't know for sure till I can get the tree off it. I guess that kills the summer league I was in no way there now. Till the adjusters look it all over.:(:(

Well the clean-up started today. they got it off my car and part of the main tree still standing. The part still standing has a Foot wide crack working down the middle of it. They'll be back next week to finish it off. got most of the stuff on the ground gone.

The tree is about 70 feet tall around 4 or more feet in diameter at the trunk.

heres another pic of my car with it on it. the hood is crushed in and the moon roof is too. Amazing no broken glass! lots of dents and scratches.

I took it with a Olympus Camedia C-4000 ZOOM Digital camera. The picture there was resized and compressed, so it is not as sharp as the original.

The other picture was from a cell phone.

Thanks Al. I was just curious. I hope everything turns out ok.

yOUR WELCOME. the body shop should be out tomorrow to pick up my suv. no damage to the house, just bent a pipe on the old chain link fence.

The house insurance won't pay nothing, there's really no damage except to the chainlink fence and that wouldn't cost over the deductible and it doesn't cover your car. So My car insurance will cover the suv.

The tree company will come back to finish taking down the tree later this week. Going to costs $2500 to remove the tree and all the debris. They got right on it though Friday, got my car out, secured the standing portion of the tree and cleaned up alot debris.

Another pic the whole tree

Not to bad, it's a old development. lots of older houses and trailers.

They picked up my suv this morning. Now just have to wait to see what happens.

Shop say's it's going to be about $10,200.00. The parts should be here tomorrow and it will be about 3-4 weeks to get it done :) . Bet that's mostly labor charges too  .

OMG Al. That really sucks. Maybe you should just get another car.

It's only year-old and it would cost twice that to replace it. The car insurance is going to cover it.

Well the tree is finally down! they have been cutting since monday. They still have to come back thursday to pick up the last of debris. I took about 360 photos of this operation.

The trunk is 4 feet in diameter at three feet off the ground, here's a pic of it hitting the ground.

Here's pic of the trunk after it landed. You look close, you can see the split working down it. Also that bottm part is buried a about a foot and a half into the ground.

HOORAY!!:D:D:D My car is out of the shop. Just picked it up.

90hrs of body labor, 30 hrs of paint labor, 3 hrs of mechanical labor and $11400.00 and it's done.

They did a good job, just a couple of nit picky things (small spots needing to be buffed out a little more.) But not a bad job, got done retty fast too.

Just curious, bowl1820, do you still own that car, and if so, how is it running? As a Florida resident for the last 27 years, I have learned my lesson about trees, and now we live in a house with ZERO trees in the yard. If I want to see trees, I look around the neighborhood, but hurricanes, tornadoes, heavy rains, etc will not be blowing any trees onto my house or car!
