With a mix of experienced players and newcomers, Junior Team USA enters the 2009 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships with its sights set on repeating last year's success.

Junior Team USA claimed 10 of a possible 12 gold medals, dominating last year's PABCON Youth Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador. This year, the team travels to Bogota, Colombia, starting this weekend to take on a field of the top junior bowlers from the American Zone.

"I think we can repeat the success we had last year because we are all very determined to bowl well," said Geoffrey Young of Denton, Texas, who won the singles gold medal last year by averaging 248 for six games. "As long as we are focused on throwing good shots and staying in the moment, we will potentially bring home as many gold medals as we did last year or even more."

Young is one of four players scheduled to compete who represented Junior Team USA last year. He will be joined again by Daniel Spink of St. Louis, Mo., Christine Bator of Warren, Mich., and Kristie Petravich of West Palm Beach, Fla. Newcomers Chris Pierson of Waukesha, Wis., Jake Peters of Decatur, Ill., Jenn Boisselle of Brandon, Fla., and Brittni Hamilton of Webster, N.Y., round out the roster.

"We are going to gel and work together just fine because we all have the same game plan of winning all the medals possible," Young said. "We really got to know each other well at our training camp, which will help us work together more efficiently."

The PABCON Youth Championships consist of competition in singles, doubles, trios, team, all-events and Masters. Opening ceremonies will take place July 5 followed by six days of competition beginning July 6.
