PBA Senior Tour Final Leg of 2009 Season Set to Kick Off
Seattle, Wash. - 7/28/2009

SEATTLE, Wash. (July 28, 2009) – After a six-week hiatus the Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour heads down the homestretch of the 2009 season for the first of five remaining events, the PBA Senior Lake County Indiana Open at Olympia Lanes Aug. 1-4 in Hammond, Ind.



The final leg of the 12-event Senior Tour season will be highlighted by the PBA Senior World Championship, the third major and final tournament of the season, which will be conducted as part of the PBA World Series of Bowling Aug. 30-Sept. 5 at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich.



The first half of the season produced two double winners--Ron Mohr of Eagle River, Alaska, who earned his first career Senior Tour victories by winning the first two events, and Dale Traber of Cedarburg, Wis., who also earned his first Senior Tour wins by taking the PBA Senior Northern California Classic and the United States Bowling Congress Senior Masters.



Hall of Famer and 2008 PBA Senior Tour Rookie of the Year Wayne Webb won his second Senior Tour title by successfully defending his PBA Senior U.S. Open title in Las Vegas in June.



Other winners in the first half were Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia, picking up his seventh career Senior Tour title at the PBA Senior Sun Bowl in the Villages, and Dale Eagle who won his 11th career title and first in two years at the PBA Senior Mooresville Miller High Life Classic.



Other notables scheduled to compete in Hammond are PBA Hall of Famers, Dave Soutar, reigning PBA Senior Tour Player of the Year Tom Baker and defending champion Mark Williams. Hometown favorite Kenny Parks, winner of the 2008 Senior Masters, also will be in the fold.



Competition begins with eight-game qualifying blocks on Aug. 2-3 at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The field will then be cut to the top 32 players who will advance to best-of-five match play beginning Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. Match play continues all day on Aug. 4 with the Round of 8 and championship rounds scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Practice and pro-ams will take place on Aug. 1 beginning at 9 a.m.



The Hammond stop will be the eighth event of the 2009 Senior Tour which is celebrating its 29th season. Following Hammond, the Senior Tour visits Decatur, Ill., Aug. 8-11; Joliet, Ill., Aug. 15-18 and Lansing, Mich., Aug. 22-26, before ending the season in Allen Park.
