As the Professional Bowlers Association prepares to kick off the 2009-10 Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour season with the inaugural World Series of Bowling in suburban Detroit, we wanted to pass along a few notes:

1) If you plan to attend a PBA Tour event, in Detroit or elsewhere during the season, please submit a request for media credentials. You will find the Credentials Request Form (in Word document form) attached. Please notify the PBA Media Relations staff a few days in advance, if possible, if you plan to attend any event so we can make accommodations for you. We will have credentials ready for you at the ticket desk when you arrive.

2) Publication-quality photos featuring the finalists for each PBA Tour event will be posted on bowl.com. To access and upload photos, use this link:
http://www.pba.com/media/pressRoomCredentialsOnly/pressRoom.asp
and click on the appropriate under the “Press Pass” header.

3) The World Series of Bowling is a unique event in many aspects, but one of the most important for the news media is that the championship rounds of each WSOB event will be taped for delayed broadcast by ESPN. It is not the PBA’s intent to manage the news, but to serve the interests of the PBA’s television fans who do not want to know the final result in advance. For that reason, the PBA will not issue press releases for the championship round results until after the finals air on ESPN. Members of the media covering the events are entitled to report the outcomes as they occur, if that is your policy/decision. For those who are unable to attend the events in person, a special "spoiler alert" section will be posted on pba.com with the final results on the day they occur.

While the individual WSOB tournaments are underway, PBA will provide timely daily releases via e-mail, and “live scoring” round by round, match by match, will be available on pba.com. The only variation in the PBA’s normal media coverage will be in how the championship round results are released to the public.

4) The PBA urges all Bowling Writers Association of America members to watch for an e-mail coming soon that will offer you a full year of complimentary access to Xtra Frame, the PBA’s “online” subscription-based “bowling channel” on pba.com. Xtra Frame will provide live scoring, on-site interviews and many other unique aspects of not only the World Series, but other PBA events as the season progresses. The PBA hopes you will enjoy the complimentary subscription and that it will be a valuable resource to you.

5) Please note a change in the 2009-10 Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour schedule for February. Due to the unexpected closing of Thunder Alley in Omaha, the Feb. 17-21 Gemini Championship has been moved to Brunswick Zone-Wheat Ridge in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

Typo alert...PBA photos will be posted on pba.com, not bowl.com.
