Ciminelli Leads Cheetah Championship

8/11/2009

By Gianmarc Manzione

After a dominating performance in the Professional Bowlers Association Tournament Qualifying Round for the this week's Cheetah Championship in which he averaged 253 for 7 games, Ryan Ciminelli of Cheektowaga, N.Y. is back on top of the leader board after riding a 300 game to improve upon his TQR pace with a 256 average in the first round of action at the Cheetah Championship, the second of 7 events scheduled for the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour World Series of Bowling.

The shortest of the five "animal" patterns, scores tend to be higher on the 35-foot-long Cheetah. Jack Jurek of Lackawanna, N.Y. hardly missed the pocket himself as he averaged a 254 for 7 games to take second-place on the leader board with scores of 279, 268 and 288 from games 2 through 4. 2007 USBC Masters Champion Sean Rash, PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss and Rudy Kasimakis round out the top 5. Reigning PBA Player of the Year Wes Malott current sits in 7th place at +287.
