TQR sensation Ryan Ciminelli continued his dominance in the early goings of the Professional Bowlers Association World Series of Bowling with a Round of 8 victory over Hall of Famer Brian Voss at the Cheetah Championship this morning. Voss had previously sealed a victory over Michael Fagan in the Round of 16 with a 3-game series of 835 (279, 279, 277) before splits and carry problems plagued him in game 6 of his match against Ciminelli, which Ciminelli won 227-182.

The winner of 2 of 3 TQRs this week, Ryan Ciminelli is a 23-year-old former All-American collegiate bowler with Eerie Community College who resorted to a urethane ball for much of the Cheetah Championship. A powerful young lefty, Ciminelli fired the ball up the extreme outside portion of the lane and rang up one explosive strike after another, running out key shots with a pumped right fist that is quickly becoming his trademark.

Ciminelli joins Hall of Famer Norm Duke along with Derek Sapp and Stevie Weber for the semifinal and final matches that will be taped today to air in September as the second telecast of the 2009-2010 PBA season. Duke defeated Walter Ray Williams Jr. in a battle of Hall of Famers during the Round of 16 before sweeping Chris Barnes 4-0 to enter the semifinals, while Derek Sapp rode a 4-game total of 1056 (279, 289, 227, 264) to sweep England's Stuart Williams. The tournament's best-of-four match play format will continue through the semifinals and finals of this event.
