Funeral services were held Friday in Clinton, Iowa, for Brian Kjergaard, a three-time Professional Bowlers Association Midwest Regional champion who died unexpectedly on Aug. 22 of heart failure. He was 33.

Kjergaard, who had recently moved from Fulton, Ill., to Waterloo, Iowa, where he was managing Cadillac Lanes, is survived by his wife Keitha, daughter Emma, stepdaughter Alyssa Pessman, parents John and Pam Kjergaard, brother Rev. Mike Kjergaard, and sisters Deb (Shawn) Cram and Karyn (Joe) Luskey.

Kjergaard graduated from Clinton High School in 1994 and went to work for DeWitt Lanes. He joined the PBA in 2006 and won PBA Midwest Regional titles at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., in March, 2007; Columbus, Wis., in September, 2007, and Madison, Wis., in April 2009. In early August, he finished 11th in the PBA Regional Players Championship in Allen Park, Mich. He also had bowled 33 300 games and several 800 series during his bowling career.
