As bowling's National Governing Body, USBC is responsible for filling many roles. One of the most important is helping to grow the sport by making sure all bowlers, from beginners to elite players, have access to quality coaching and other resources that will help them improve their games. With that in mind, bowlers soon will see an increased presence of coaching materials and tips on BOWL.com.

The first installment of this initiative will involve weekly bowling tips, which will be made available on BOWL.com every Tuesday and Friday beginning Sept. 15. Tuesday's tips will be geared toward entry-level and intermediate bowlers while Friday's tips will target advanced and elite players.

The majority of these tips will be written by members of the USBC Coaching department and will cover topics ranging from how to select a pair of bowling shoes to how to build an effective arsenal of bowling balls. Guest tips may occasionally be offered by USBC Team USA members and Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour and PBA Women's Series professionals.

"USBC Coaching is dedicated to helping bowlers improve, and these weekly tips will be a great tool we can use to accomplish that," said David Garber, USBC High Performance Director of Coaching and Team USA. "We are very excited about this program, and we think bowlers will love it."

The addition of weekly bowling tips is only the first part of USBC Coaching's larger initiative.

Once the International Training and Research Center is completed, which is expected late this year, USBC Coaching plans to produce video tips, podcasts and other training materials that utilize the training center's many state-of-the-art coaching and training tools.

"Once the training center is open, we will be able to use that technology to provide bowlers with a road map they can follow to progress from a beginning bowler to an advanced or possibly elite bowler," Garber said. "Having the ability to assist bowlers this way is unprecedented, so the coaching department is working hard to make sure our members get only the very best tips and coaching information."

Additional details about the training center initiative will be released as they become available.

Bowlers who wish to provide feedback about or suggest material for the weekly tips section can do so by sending e-mail to coaching@bowl.com or calling (800) 514-2695, ext. 8969.
