Hi, everyone. I just discovered this forum a few days ago and am delighted that I did. It looks like a great online community of bowling fans of every stripe.

I'll be turning 57 later this month and have been watching bowling and bowling myself since the late 1950's. I've probably seen just about every PBA Tour telecast ever aired, some of them many times over, and every great televised bowling moment during that time. I've also had the great good fortune of watching in person some of the greatest bowlers in history do what they do best during the 60's, 70's 80's, 90's, and 2000's.

Despite my longtime love of the game, I was never good enough to turn professional myself. But I can still average well into the 200's on most house shots, averaged 204 in a "PBA Experience" league last summer, and have bowled 3 sanctioned 300's and 3 sanctioned 800's over the years.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, lived most of that time in Redwood City, and bowled leagues and tournaments in that area until I moved to Sacramento in late 2004. I consider myself fortunate to have discovered Fireside Lanes (http://www.firesidebowling.com/) in Citrus Heights, CA, because it not only offers some of the cheapest practice rates you're likely to find anywhere in the country, but it also has Bowlers Journal Top 100 coach and National Junior Bowling Coach of the Year Debbie Haggerty, mother of exempt PBA player PJ Haggerty, a fantastic junior bowling program, and the venerable Steve Cook Classic (http://leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFilesStandings.aspx?LID=2522) league featuring Steve Cook himself and Leanne Barrette Hulsenberg.

I also recently started a bowling blog (http://stevesbowlingblog.blogspot.com/) that focuses especially on the PBA but also aims to cover almost every facet of the sport in America and around the world.

Finally, I'm looking to raise my game to a higher level while I'm still not too old to do it and to start bowling tournaments and hopefully be competitive.

I look forward to getting to know a goodly number of you and to discussing the wonderful sport of bowling with you all.
