Does the ball really matter?

There are so many balls out there does it really matter?
I am interested in how many people have average increases consistently with a new ball. With getting a new ball every year and your average goes up 10 pins every year eventually you will be averaging over 300.


My experience. I have a gold pearlized quake. (not very pearlized anymore) I bought it back I think in '93-'94. I took time off from bowling and started up again in 05'-06' and averaged 211 with it. Last year I picked up a new ball for the first time in forever. I averaged 220 with the morich awesome finish.

This year I just bought a black elite. my first 300 and first 800 (804).

My goal is to average 235 this year.

Question. Does the ball make the bowler, or does the bowler make the ball?

I really don't think in the whole scheme of things it really matters. When it comes down to it, skill comes into play. You can't just pick up a really good ball and hit a strike. It does take some skill to do that.

i always feel the newer the ball the better it rolls as it progressivley gets worse in condition. the first games you bowl with a new ball are exactly that. the first games. and you will never bowl them again.

well to answer the the question I would say its 60/40% in favor of the ball

Skill does come into play but you can do a lot more with a reactive ball than lets say a white dot

The ball is really like a tool.
Use the right tool for the job at hand.
If you are bowling on a THS, I don't think it matters as much.

If you are bowling on a Sport or PBAX condition, the ball, layout,
surface prep,etc. is more important.

You can build an equipment arsenal.
Of course, it can confuse a bowler. ;)

Depends upon how serious the bowler is....bowl just league, tournaments?

It's an old one...I had a coach who told me that back in the 1960s...
I still think a lot of bowlers get caught up in the equipment, a bit too much.
I started bowling when everyone carried one ball.
You changed hand positions, not balls.

I know the game is different, definitely, a lot more fun!!!! :D:D

But with better equipment, at least for me-I still bowl like crud.
