Looking for a ball to use when the lanes break down on second shift.
Storm 2Fast, Roto Grip Dark Star, or any other suggestions ?

What do you run into when the lanes break down? What kind of rev rate and speed do you have? Can you move in on the lane and just not carry anymore or would you rather be able to stay more outside on the lane?

The 2fast and Dark star are good choices. Every company has a drier lane ball, it all just depends on what company you want to be with. Ebonite has the curve ball that would be good, Columbia 300 has the NoiZe line, hammer has the vibe line etc.

Once I know what you are running into I could maybe give you a better answer.

Hope this helps!

This is a new leauge I'll be bowling on, nomally I bowl first shift in another leauge. I was told the lanes will not be re oiled.
So I really don't know what I'll be running into. I am a stweener, med ball speed. I throw a virtual gravity, stand back left end of the aproach drift to center and throw to the 10 board. Looking for a ball if I had to move right with my feet and basically
throw down the 10 board.
Hope this works!!

Ah ok. then you are just looking for something that is less then the Virtual Gravity. A 2 Fast would be a great option for you or even a 2 Furious. What you are probably running into is lane break down. So your Virtual is hooking too much. Getting something that hooks a less would help solve it.

The tropical heat is a really good ball for the broken down lanes too. Although, you will want the pearlized ones, not the hybrid. It is not a weak ball, but it gets through the lane pretty clean and has decent power into the pins. Otherwise, the 2 fast is a good option. The reign with a pin above the fingers might work too, but if it is really broke down, that may be too much ball for you. On the other hand, it would give you an option on fresh oil also. Personally, I use my tropical heat or Hy-Road when the lanes break down badly.

My first suggestion would be to wait untill after your first night of bowling to see exactly how much they are broken down to start and how much further they break down as the night progresses. Knowing these facts will help in determining a ball choice. If they are dry you may want urethane such as the Natural or Grenade or even the Avalanche Pearl urethane. Bowling on hooking wood lanes over the summer i used a Roto Grip Mars with the surface changed to 4000 polished. Of the"entry " level balls mentioned in posts above the Slingshot and Backlash would have the smoothest back end reaction while the Dark Star , Freeze and Tropical Heat would be more angular. Another option would be to take a solid covered ball such as the Riot and polish it.

i have a similar style /line as you and also throw a vg. over the summer i tried my 1st pbax league and tho my scores stunk i learned to slow down and adjusted my timing.this resulted in higher revs and better accuracy for me .not to mention vast improvement in my spare shooting.

fast forward to start of the regular fall league...2 weeks in i cannot hit the right side of the pocket .no matter how deep i move or try to break my wrist my gear is all too strong now for the ths they put out.

im picking up my motiv recon rx-1 wendsday and ill let ya know how it goes its a weak reactive cover stock and they say has a similar look to urethanes but dosent lose drive when it makes its move.and it'll be my first motiv, but i've seen them in action they carry the pins low and hard. it even sounds different almost violent :)
