The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour will return to Western New York for the 2010-11 season with a tournament at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga, one of a few stops on a sparse tour schedule. The pro bowlers will not compete in such traditional bowling hotbeds as Ohio, Michigan and Illinois and will not make the usual stops in locales such as Long Island, Baltimore, Medford, Ore., Dallas and Omaha, Neb.

After weeks of delay, the PBA released the complete tour schedule on its Web site, PBA.com, with little fanfare.

The Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship will be bowled at Thruway starting March 1 and is the next-to-last event on the 2010-11 schedule. The tournament comes a week after the 68th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open in North Brunswick, N.J. and the week before the Tour wraps up with a new event, the Dick Weber PBA Playoffs March 8-13 in Indianapolis.

The Tour did not make a Western New York stop on the 2009-10 schedule. The last time the pros visited here was in December 2008 in the PBA Cheetah Championship.

The Tour schedule is very sparse after the World Series of Bowling is staged next month in Las Vegas, Nev. The World Series will open with the World Championship, followed by five championship events in the PBA's five "animal" oil patterns -- the Cheetah, Viper, Chameleon, Scorpion and Shark. Those tournaments will be taped for later showing on ESPN. The only other Tour event before Jan. 1 will be the Chris Paul Celebrity Invitational in New Orleans Dec. 9-12.

The 2011 part of the schedule will include:The PBA Tournament of Champions, Jan. 15-16 in Las Vegas; The Earl Anthony Memorial Classic Jan. 24-30 in Dublin, Calif. the USBC Masters, Feb. 6-13 in Reno, Nev., the U.S. Open Feb. 21-27 and then the Mark Roth here
