Bowling fans who missed any of the 2008 U.S. Women's Open, a USBC event, will have additional opportunities to catch the five-part series when it re-airs on ESPN2 beginning with the first show today at 3 p.m. EDT. The four remaining shows will air throughout October.

The event originally aired on ESPN each Sunday afternoon from Sept. 7 until Oct. 5, and gave the world's best women bowlers a regular presence on national television. The series concluded Sunday with a historic title match.

"It's great to see women's bowling back on TV, and each week brings another opportunity to bring attention to the sport and the best women bowlers around," USBC Vice President of Media Pete Tredwell said. "We have worked closely with ESPN to develop a TV schedule that will bring maximum exposure to the event, and we're excited about being back in the limelight."

The U.S. Women's Open started with more than 180 competitors, who battled through 32 grueling games of qualifying Aug. 1-4 at Brunswick Zone XL in Romeoville, Ill., before the top 16 advanced to the single-elimination bracket that has been featured on ESPN and ESPN 2.

The field of 16 of the most talented women bowlers in the world was divided into four sub-brackets, and on each of the first four telecasts, four players faced off for a spot in the finals.

The field included Team USA members, former professional stars, international standouts, collegiate champions and top amateurs, and the event concluded with a climatic title match that makes bowling history.

Viewers are encouraged to check their local listings for any updates to the re-air schedule.
