Standing in line early this morning at Starbucks ... then I spotted a familiar face on the CD rack -- Paul Simon!
It makes an old-guy-in-training feel great to see another one still creating fresh art.
The CD has played through three times, already, since I got to work. (Good thing my office mate is out today.)
The song-writing shows continued changes in his life perspective, I think. But he's still crazy after all these years.

Good for you, Paul!
And THANKS.

It's been getting kind of mixed reviews. They just did a thing about it on NPR and it piqued my interest.

My wife is interested in the Bonnie Raitt cd they have at Starbucks, but we can't seem to find anything that says if they're new performances or remixes, or just culled from her previous albums. Of which we have all.

Bonnie Raitt is by far my favorite female singer. She rocks!

Bonnie Raitt has a gorgeous voice, for sure. And I really dig her slide guitar.

I think another thing I like about Paul Simon's new CD is that it flows from song to song, following a theme (in my head, anyway).
I feel that's lacking in a lot of new music lately.
Elton John's "Yellow Brick Road" had that kind of story flow.

I'm 26. Getting there, but not quite old yet!

I've known people who were old fossils in their twenties, and some folks who were still young in their eighties and nineties. Me- I'm not admitting to anything except that I've been bowling since ten years before Whiskey was born.

Best female singer Bonnie Raitt???? You young whippersnappers never heard Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane sing, did you? Now THAT is one powerful voice!

It's not about power, it's about tone and control. Bonnie Raitt is as good as it gets.

Either Ann or Nancy Wilson of Heart could out-sing Bonnie Raitt any day of the week.

Didn't say she was the best, said she was my favorite.

My bad, I thought "as good as it gets" meant the best.

We won't get into a debate over who the "best" is. I can name many better than the Wilsons though.

My wife hates the blues but loves Bonnie Raitt. She hates jazz but loves Kenny Rankin. I like to argue with her about who has the better voice, Bonnie or Linda Ronstadt.
