VG Nano or Curve...?

Hey, all.

New to the forum and was looking for some guidance on choosing my next ball. I've been bowling for a few years, but haven't done anything serious like leagues. Just looking to keep improving my game and maybe get competitive when I find some time.

Some background: I currently throw a Columbia 300 Resurgence that I've had for something like 3 years. Had it resurfaced a couple times, redrilled, and I'm ready for a new rock. I'm a definite stroker, I think, but I wish I bowled more like a tweener or cranker. Looking for a hard-hooking ball with lots of power.

Been doing some research and the VG Nano seems to be at the top of a lot of people's lists. Looks like it'd have the power and reaction I'm looking for. I also did some research on particles and got interested in the Curve from Lane #1. Both are supposed to have great reaction and power, but I was wondering if I could get some opinions on which I should lean toward and why.

OR, if you have a better suggestion on what I might look into instead.

(3) Curve

The VG Nano is just an awesome ball hands down!! Not that I would know, But The Mayor does!! :)

(2) & (3) would make a great choice for you also....It really depends on what you want from a ball. :)

aaaah the magic word "consistency".....Curve

Although the VG Nano is a Great ball, and I would love to have the Boom'Rang, and both may be consistent. When consistency is most important!!!! ....My first thought from experience is "Particle" :)

When all my other equipment is having over/under problems....I pull out my particle ball and problem solved!!

But that is just the way it works for me....not saying it works for everyone. :)

Sometimes a solid or pearl will have over/under issues on certain oil patterns, in cases like that... I have found that my particle pearl, and especially my Particle solid will work better in that situation.

Thanks for all your input, Trex, it's been really helpful. I think I'm gonna go ahead and try the Curve. I'll post back with how things work out.

FYI, the Lane #1 ball that would compare the best to the VG Nano, would probably be the new Buzzbomb Carnage. Both are very heavy oil balls, more "hard-hooking". The Curve is also a very good ball and probably better overall for lane conditions you'll see the most (THS I assume).

That being said, if you're interested in more consistency, I'd probably suggest personal lessons with someone IBPSIA certified over getting a new ball.
