I am looking for a new ball, but the last time I ever had my own ball was about 12 years ago. I am currently borrowing my brother's ball. I throw a 12 lb. ball (straight), with no fingertips. I am unsure what kind of ball would be a good fit for me. I avg. 130 a game, but sometimes I get lucky and have thrown a 180. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi! First off, just having a ball that fits your hand will help you immensely. When a ball fits your hand, it's going to feel much lighter. This will allow you to go in up weight, which will also help your scores. There's not a big difference in pin action between 14, 15, 16.. but the difference between 12 and 14 is huge. If you could get up to a 14 pound ball, it will improve your scores.
Some suggestions for bowling balls would be the Storm Tropical Breeze and Brunswick Slingshot. Reactive balls with a nice core for added drive through the pins.

Thanks! What is your opinion on fingertips and should I stay straight or try a curve ball?

If you're serious about getting serious about bowling, I would definitely go with a fingertip grip and learn to throw a hook. This is something that you'll eventually want to do anyway, so it's better to start out doing it!

The Mayor has pretty much covered it all in his 2 posts, slingshot is a great ball for starting out with..
