I've been wondering how a old-style hard rubber ball would do on today's lanes and oil patterns. Have any of you ever bowled with one before? I'd greatly appreciate any information or anecdotes you guys throw my way.

They can still work on drier conditions. They are very even rolling and will have very little angle on the backend. However, compared to today's bowling balls, it's much more difficult to carry. There is no core and the lack of entry angle can cause problems with carry. I have an old Brunswick Black Diamond that I use if the lanes are completely gone and shoot spares with it. In my opinion, there are much better options that are suited for today's conditions than a rubber ball.

Alright thanks. I was looking for a spare ball on ebay and noticed a user selling undrilled hard rubber balls for about $15 a piece. Seemed like something to look into.

Most pro shops won't even touch a rubber ball these days. They are extremely messy, smell horrible and are not good to breathe in.
