The picture of the bowling scenarios asks for: stance, arrows, and pockets. I have no clue what any of those mean...please help out with this

All of this should be in the course material. If you didn't skip around and it really doesn't give you the meaning of these terms, this course is a waste of your time.
It looks like your online course is defining stance as where you stand as you start your approach. The arrows are the marks on the lane about 15 feet past the foul line. Each arrow is directly in front of a pin. They give bowlers an easy target to aim at. A pocket is the area between two adjacent pins, usually the 1 & 2 or the 1 & 3. Using an arrow as a target and moving your stance right or left, you can develop a system to hit any pin or pocket on the lane.

I agree with J.A. That information should have been covered in the very first part of the course.
One comment I'll make about the spares shown in the picture. (I'm sure plenty will disagree with this.)
Is that one shot could be used to cover(pickup) all those spares, except possibly #6 the 3-7. The shot that covers the 3-10 spare will cover the rest imho.

I agree that one shot could work for them all. I'm not brave enough to try it when it counts, I usually stand 1 to 1-1/2 boards right for the 3-6 or 3-6-10 than I do for the 6 pin. I move 1 to 1-1/2 left for the 6-10.

I agree. I think they are trying to be cute and confuse beginners, but the same starting position and target can be used to pick up all of those spares.

I stand in the same position to pick up all of those spares as well.
Out of curiousity, what is the online bowling course? I've never really studied bowling books or courses. My guess is that they are trying to put emphasis on a spare system like 3-6-9 or something like that.

well the thing is, my course works like this: once I complete an activity, its (as far as i've tried) impossible to go back in the course, and i finished my last lessons quite a while back, so i really don't remember any of what it taught me...
and as far as my supplemental textbook goes, it hasn't helped me at all. i've gone through the entire thing two or three times, and havent found anything.
could someone please list out what you think the answers are that way i can send it in to my instructor? once i submit an assignment, i get a response telling me the right/wrong answers and an explanation, so it would really help

Without knowing what spare system the course was teaching, it would be almost pointless to give a answer. Because the answer for one system would be wrong for the other system.
Some of the spare systems are the 3-6-9 system, The 2-4-6 system, The KISS system and the Triax system.
Also these systems are basically outdated now, because they are based on lane conditions from years ago. With todays modern game and lane conditions they dont quite work like they use too.
If you could tell what the name of the online course is someone here might know what system they use.
If it helps heres a "3-6-9 system" spare conversion chart .(The foot movements are based on the board your standing on to throw your strike ball. So say if your standing on 20, you would base your movements off that board.)

I use the 3-6-9 system for the pins right of the head pin.....does anyone know a system for pins on the left side for people who stand less than 9 boards from the gutter? I usually start between boards 7.5 and 12 (depending on ball & lane conditions). For spares on the left I'll usually stand at 7.5 and just play a different arrow.

Not sure how "right' this is but when I play outside, for left pins I move my mark 3-6-9 and so far it seems to work.
Other times I just throw my plastic really hard and straight as I can at them.

I sometimes do the same when playing up the first arrow. Most of the time throw straight and target on the third arrow for spares, regardless of where I'm lined up for strikes.
