This is something I did and it fixed my problem.
Buy yourself a pair of those greyish suede gloves from Home Depot - the ones the boilermakers jackets and gloves are made of. You may have to unpick some threads to spread them out a bit and then place the part of the shoe you want to cover on them and draw around it. Cut out the section, and glue it to the bottom of your shoe.
The material is thin, less than 16th of an inch. Don't be skimpy with the glue but try not to get it on the good side.
Gloves are about 2 bucks and the fabric glue about 3.
Quick easy fix and it WORKS.

WTG, McGuyver. :) I wouldn't have thought of that, I'd just buy a new sole. The 10's are way too slippery, the 8's work well.

The suede is not as slippery as you would think, but it definitely slides, and still offers enough grip to maintain your balance - I haven't slipped yet and have been using the same suede for several months.

Haha that's pretty clever. I'm in need of new shoes, and was just going to buy a new pair. Might try this route though before making my purchase. +1!

Wow, great thinking!
Thanks!
What it can do is save that favourite pair of shoes for one last season, even more so if you can find some thicker suede somewhere.

Cool - didn't know about that one.
What are they worth?
