Between Thursday, Oct. 16 and mid-November, USBC members and the bowling media should be prepared for temporary service disruptions as Bowling Headquarters moves its internet technology infrastructure from Greendale to Arlington, Texas.

Over the next few weeks, there will be several changes in the IT infrastructure, leading up to the full office move the week of Nov. 3.

The biggest impact will occur during the move of the datacenter, which begins the night of Thursday, Oct. 16. Starting at 6 p.m. CDT, staff will shut down the servers in the datacenter and prepare them to be shipped the next day. Once this process is underway, the only IT services that will be available will be support for bowl.com and the phone system. This means that there will be no network drives or e-mail available from Thursday night through the weekend. No e-mail will be lost, but delivery will be delayed until the server is back online.

For members and other frequent bowl.com visitors, bowl.com will function as a "read only" site during the move. You can look up averages, etc., you won't be able to buy merchandise from the Bowling Store, etc., and BHQ will not process memberships, awards or run WinLABS batches between Thursday and Saturday. USBC expects the system to be operational by Sunday.

The goal is to have everything fully operational before the start of business Monday. Some services may return sooner than others. Restoring e-mail service will be one of the first priorities.
