Hello everyone, I just joined the site today and I'm glad to be here
and now a little bit about myself. I just started back bowling this
season after being away from bowling for 12 1/2 years because of
a back injury. I bowled from about 1980 through the first week of
January 1999 then had to give it up just as I was thinking about
joining the Southern Regional PBA Tour later in 1999 but because
of the injury that never happened. My back doesn't seem to bother
me all that much anymore but with age comes knee problems and I
can not get as deep of a knee bend anymore like I used to get or I
can not get as much turn on the ball as I used to get. I used to be
in the 450+RPM range back then and maybe now if I'm lucky I can
manage somewhere around 350+RPM's or less. I averaged around
200+ back then using the old Urethane balls and wooden lanes now
since I've started back 12 weeks ago I'm back up to a 166 average
from a starting average of a whopping 126 LOL on synthetic lanes
and using todays reactive balls.
All of the older bowlers from the center that remembered me from the
old days and still talked about me to the newer younger bowlers telling
them how I used to bowl well when I came back the younger and newer
bowlers all thought I was just sandbagging at first. I had my best night
last night bowling against some of the newer bowlers with games of
199,266,223 for a 688 series. I had the front 8 in the second game and
then my thumb hung in the 9th and then again in the 10th frame so no
300 last night :(. The guys we were bowling against thought I just choked
in the 9th and 10th frames but my team mates set them straight by telling
them I had been in that spot many, many, many, times before with countless
299 and 300 games while open bowling and sanctioned 299 and a 300 games
under my belt so it wasn't a case of being nervous at all.
Hope to be back to my old bowling self soon and maybe I can be a help around
here to some of the new bowlers with some of my bowling knowledge.:)
OOPS!! almost forgot to tell everyone my name it is Bill
