I've been wearing a pair a real nice Dyno Thane shoes that were bought for me almost 10 years ago. My league has some really crappy approaches and the slide is minimum. I really need good slide for leverage in my shot. A couple weeks ago I bought one of those slip on toe covers, and it gave me some real good slide. One of my biggest approach problems is that at the end of my shot I drag my right foot and it is destroying the left side of that shoe. I don't know what to do.
Do I need to work on my balance at the end of my shot to get that foot off the ground?
Do I need new shoes? I just don't know

My first pair of bowling shoes lasted about 2200 games. My second only lasted half that amount. My guess is that your shoes may be near the end of their useful life.
I also drag my trailing foot, although I'm not sure if I do it left-handed as much as I used to right-handed. Red Wing shoes sells a pair of rubber toe caps that get glued to work shoes to protect the toes of work shoes, that would probably work fine for the way I drag my foot. They also make a rubberized coating that gets painted onto the work shoe that would probably work better for you. Either would look a little strange on a bowling shoe.

I have a pair of Dexter shoes, and I drag my right foot as well. I haven't had a problem with anything wearing down.
