i am just starting to get the hang of what the axis tilt and axis of rotation of a bowling ball is i was just wondering what everyone finds to be more difficult to point out and pay attention to when bowling your axis tilt or the axis of rotation of your bowling ball? and also if anybody has any tips on how to help pick them out would be appreciated

Next time you go out to practice, put a piece of white tape (1/2 of a white thumb tape works great.) on your PAP. This visual will tell you many usefull things including tilt and rotation. You can change your release and easily watch the changes. This can only be done in practice, as tape on the ball during competition is illegal.

What I normally do is throw a shot, and run to the pro shop with the oil still on the ball. From there, they can find all of the information you seek.

stormgirl from what i have read about it the only thing they can find with the oil line is axis tilt i am not positive as this is all fairly new to me but i believe the axis rotation you have to pay attention to as you bowl

Watch this video, you can get a lot of info out of an oil line. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aicFPNb0YHw

Oil line will tell you where the axis is, not the axis tilt. It will show you flare though, which is also usefull. The thumb tape idea is a great way to learn about your ball roll. If you are working on these sort of specific things, a coach is really helpful. Most people won't be able to properly adjust their tilt and increase rotation without proper coaching.
