What to do

I was given a new 16pd. Brunswick C-System bowling ball for Christmas, because I asked for it.

My 16pd. Columbia300 White Dot and, my 16pd. AMF Night Hawk both have marks on them from the last time I went bowling about a 2mos. ago(slowly getting back into the sport, I am also an avid cyclist). Both balls have the same rotation marks on them from some junk in the back of the alley. I am hoping that polish will work on some of the marks. But there are some obvious spots where both of the balls were chipped.

What have others done with a lightly chipped bowling ball?

take to nearest shop and get buffed- should take care of it.

I too have had a mishap in the pit/ball return area. My ball came back to me with a gash about 1/2" wide and 1/8" deep. I ask the pro shop guy and he said not to worry because it wasn't in my line. But he did say they could fill it with polymer and then sand and buff it back to normal. It messed with my psyche for a week or two, but have noticed no big problems with it.

This has really messed with my psyche. Because I noticed the gash in the first ball. But I thought it was just because of my ball going into the gutter. When my other ball ended up the same way, I wanted to complain to the alley management. But I think they have a 'use at your own risk' policy, regarding use of the lane.

i agree with everyone just polish them also soaking them in warm water with dawn will help pull the old oil out of the ball

I know the feeling, I was literally sick to my stomach. I mean if you damage something yourself you can just chalk it up to making a mistake or something. But to have spent good money on it and then through no fault of your own have it damaged by unseen forces, c'mon man. There are fillers available master-kwik-patch-kit (http://www.bowling.com/products/master-kwik-patch-kit.htm). I looked into it myself but decided since the pro guy said not to worry, I don't.........as much :/

Ask the alley anyway, sometimes they will repair the ball. It's better than losing a league or open bowler.

I agree with JerseyJim ask the owner of the center as they can not afford to loose bowlers
over damaged bowling balls. I know from experience that our center owner would rather fix
or replace a damaged ball. I had a brand new T Zone spare ball that I had just thrown one
time get hung up in the ball return wheel and it scratched it up pretty good but not enough
to ruin it so they repaired it for me and it looked like new afterwards. We had several other
bowlers balls get chewed up and the center owner replaced them with brand new balls and
also fixed the other balls for them if they were fixable and let them keep them too. :D

never hurts to ask and if they say no just go to another alley lol

best option, just take it to a proshop and have it resurfaced for 10-20 bucks. not only will it look brand new, it should give it a little more reaction back.

if its pretty heavily gashed, the dumpster is a good place for it :) thats where most of my balls end up

Depending on the severity of the gashes they can be rmoved with either a resurface or may need to be plugged. Either way the pro shop can fix them for you

Most bowling centers will repair or replace a ball obviously damaged by their equipment. Doesnt hurt to ask firmly

Sounds a bit scary to me - unless you meant to keep the water out of the holes?
