Hey,
I just found this forum while looking at new bowling balls on another website. I have been bowling off and on for about 21 years and I still learn something new every day. I am looking forward to reading some of the posts and posting information when available. I bowl in 3 leagues in WV and love it, although I think my knee is breaking down, so I might have to see if i can find a new one of those sometime soon...LOL...Thanks for having a site like this.

I have a possible solution for you. It all depends on what type of knee pain you have. I use a jumper's knee strap. It stabilizes the tendons around the knee, and helps with my tendonitis. This article will hit on the important points, and has links to other sites which go into details. http://www.ehow.com/info_8784852_jumpers-knee-straps.html

JerseyJim,
This is exactly where my pain is. I bowled a city tourney this weekend and gutted through it, but with the pain it was causing me to stay up right in my slide and I didn't roll over a 569 out of three series. I will check around and see about purchasing one of these. I appreciate the help...Thanks'

Wal-Mart has them in stock. I've gone through a few of them, and they work. I can't remember the brand name off the top of my head though. I might go to a Cho-Pat stabilizer since they seem to be made to last. The other thing that works is losing weight. I've lost 35 lbs since I got laid off from my last programming job. I haven't had to use a stabilizer since I've started up bowling again. They say that losing a pound of body weight is like reducing the weight at the joint by 5 pounds. My hips barely twinge as well. I'm now trying to lose an additional 15-20 pounds.

Well since I got back from my past deployment I have put on 25 lbs. I guess it is time to hit the gym. Thanks for the advice.

I got the Jumper's Knee Strap and it worked beautifully! I bowled seven games last night and didn't have any pain except for my pride....I shot a 506 first shift and 791 (4 game) second shift.....ugly, ugly scores....I saved a little embarrassment by shooting a 248 last game of the night, but it soon was washed out by the 273 of the guy I was bowling match against....oh well I guess I can't win them all...

Off topic, I know but... 273?! That's... pretty rough. I've thrown my share of 277, 278 and 279... I've just never seen a 273 before.

The guy was a nightmare....he shot the first six I think...then shot a 4 count leaving the 3-6-9-10-4-7...then picked the daggone thing up...then went either went off sheet or 9 count in the tenth...he shot a 997 for 4 games last night....like I said he was a nightmare....I have bowled him before and beat him but damn he was on fire last night

I'm happy the strap worked for you. I had to go to it last night when my knee started acting up. It helped a bit, but the other knee strap that brackets the knee worked a lot better.
