hey guys whats going on, im recently new tot he sport..ive been practicing and playing for about a month and a half now and im getting more interested into bowling than i used to be!
the other day i thought that i should go out and purchase my first bowling ball. i went to a pro shop, and looked at many different bowling balls one of them stuck out the most it was the Brunswick Evil Siege. being a beginner i had no clue if it was good or bad it was 130 and thought that wasnt bad for a good ball the guy at the pro shop said this ball has ALOT of hook and i relly dont know how to hook the ball yet but i got the ball and got it drilled without finger tip grips bc i wasnt ready for that yet. the next week i went to the lanes and started using my evil siege(14LB and to be honest im not to happy with it. ive heard all the rave about this ball and kinda regret buying this as my first ball? sinc eits more of a hook ball and not a straight hit ball....do u think i should stick wiht an evil siege or try selling it already and find something more of my type like a cyclone...freezer...scout...heat or something ? i want a ball that is GREAT for beginners that isnt poly or urathane...and that is good for me where i can throw it straight and also wen i feel liek practicing hooks i can hook it....i cant really get comfortabe wiht this ball if eel lie it it for experienced bowlers only haha

Mi5hka, you'd be better off with a low end ball such as Cyclone, Tropical Breeze or Heat, or Slingshot. The Evil Siege is a good ball, however using it while try to learn how to properly hook the ball would probably stunt your growth as a bowler. Once you learn how to bowl well with a low end ball, your coach or a decent pro shop owner can suggest a higher end ball for you.

yea i shoulda known that before buying this ball! i feel stupid now haha the pro shop told me to put finger tip into the ball and learn how to hook with the evil siege instead of buying a new ball so now im ont really sure on what to do now.

Hi Mi5hka, I feel your pain. I've only been seriously into bowling for a year now and like you I bought a ball not knowing much about hooking. I bought the Storm Reign and began practicing with it, and I also bought another ball (Storm Ice) at the same time for those straight shots and spares for around $50.

My advice to you would be to keep the Seige and work on different approaches, targets and ball speeds to get the hook to work for you. In the meantime look into purchasing a spare or straight ball as well. Trust me, you'll want both styles after you practice and get more involved with the game.

One more thing, :) practice, practice and practice!

ive tried using it tonight with hooking and this thing is to over whelming with hook i cant find a spot where i can hit it and its very difficult being a beginner using this ball and not knowing how to hook yet i think i made a mistake but we live and learn right ? i currently put it up on ebay hopefully get some money for it so i can get a easier more right ball for myself i can use for learning hooks..

Sounds good, yeah we live and learn. I noticed on other posts you had this ball drilled conventional, I didn't know that when I posted earlier up there ^. That would totally be in another perspective that I know little about, seeing as I have the finger grip style drilling on my bowling balls.

yes miggitymac i had it drilled conventional which i regret but i will soon, if i cant get rid of it, get it plugged and keep it in a safe spot till i become alot better for now ive been looking for a entry/porformance type ball that will suite me better in learning!
