my wife and practice a lot and we came up with bowling scotch doubles with our selves. it makes it fun at practicing and a good learning tool. i lead off , then she throws the secound ball either at a spare
or if i strike, then she throws and then maybe i have to pick up her spare.

Sounds like a fun way to practice. I usually practice by myself. My normal routine is to shoot corner pins on the first ball, Then aim for the pocket. Second game I rotate targets, i.e. first frame the seven pin, second frame the 4 pin, third frame the 2 pin, and so on.
Third game I move targets. I start as far out side as I can and then move one board in after each strike.
If I feel like goofing around I'll put on alley type shoes and alternate right-handed to left-handed and back, or I'll rotate through what ever balls I brought with.

We used to have an unsanctioned scotch doubles league back in the late 80's
and it was a lot of fun to bowl in and made for some interesting spare practice.

We did that at practice for the high school team. Its fun till you constantly have to pick up sucky splits
