I have been arguing with my friend about this for a long time, and I feel that this would be the proper place to inquire.

He (has 6, 300 games and just hit his first 800) has said time and time again that hitting a 300 is harder than hitting an 800, because with an 800 you have some room for error.

Myself, only have an 800 - but I said that this was more difficult, because of how precise you have to be over a long period of time. I had 19 strikes in a row over the course of that 800 in a doubles event for a state tourney, but still no 300... and 15 in a row in the singles event that followed (still no 300)...

What is your opinion?

I had a 900 14 years ago. It took Ten years to get even close with an 814.

Since 1998, my highest game has been 298.

So....For me, it is just has hard to get a 300 as it was to get three 300's in a row, and it is just as hard to get that 800.

For me it is an even tie between that 300 game & an 800 or 900.

I got lucky twice & my luck ran out years ago...lol

I have neither a 300 or 800 at this point, but I'm getting close. My highest series is 730 and a game of 278. I have had plenty of 250-275 games but I can't seem to get all 12 in a game. For me right now it seems like I would probably reach 800 before a 300

I'd look at my friend and ask "If 800's are easier to get, why do you have more 300's than 800's?"

I'm on the side that says a 800 is harder. Your having to bowl at a 260-300 pace for three straight games.
Where as with 300's a lot of bowlers can get hot for one game, but not for all three. (Not that it cant happen).

I have neither but I think the 800 is more difficult. I have a number of 278, 279 and 280's which is basically one strike shot off a 300. Doing this consistently for 3 games makes it that much harder.

@ Dave, sadly no it was not sanctioned :(

I did win $250 bucks for coming in 4th place though, so I was happy.

My doubles partner had a 786 and is why we came in 4th....

tell you this i ahve shot 1 300 but it was not sanctioned i did that prebowling but only had a 647 series crappy first 2 games but tell you this that 300 was not that hard i jsut had to stay consistent and had to know when i have to adjust and i still have not got that 700 series yet been close but not close enophsoo i think throwing a 800 series is much harder then a 300 cause if you think of it you can only bail out 100 pins which say your first game is a 224 at means u can only bail out 24 pins in the next 2 games which is alittle hard if you think of it you will mess up
