Hi all, just joined the forum. I recently started bowling again after a nearly 20 year absence from the sport. The last time I rolled leagues and a couple tournaments my Ebonite Thunderbolt was the hot new shizzle. The last time I rolled a game Bill Clinton was giving his inauguration speech, and I just turned legal age to drink a beer.
Dunno what made me walk away from bowling, but it gnawed at me recently remembering that I enjoyed it and I joined a league on the spur of the moment and rekindled my love for the game. I started this league rolling my Thunderbolt, to the "wow, that thing's old" amazement of my teammates, along with a polished Red Hammer that served as my spare ball way back when. For ancient tech, I didn't do too bad...first night back from 2 decades I rolled a 649 series...but I quickly learned that today's patterns are much more challenging than when I rolled so long ago. The massive hook I used to roll looks pretty tame now, and I was rolling down and in where I used to eat the entire lane.
My teammate gave me an unused Storm Rapid Fire and I had it drilled/fitted to my game, I'm still learning the ins and outs of reactives, but I'm liking it so far. Plan on adding another dry/medium ball so I have a better tool box at my disposal.
I'm even finding that terminology and the game itself has long since passed me by, and I'm feeling very new and bewildered sometimes, but that's just more of a challenge to overcome I suppose.
Anyway, enjoying reading the forums so far and I'm sure I'll participate more as questions and comments come to me. Looks like a good place to hang my hat!
