I'm trying to breathe some life back into my told ball. I spent a day with a bucket of hot water getting all the stubborn oil out of it until it was 'dry' and squeaky clean, but now it really needs a new glossy coat to make it down the lane.

It's hard for me to imagine that bowling ball polish is that different from other commercial polishes, and I was wondering if anyone knew what the ingredients of factory finish polish were, and whether or not there is a cheaper viable alternative that might be available at a hardware store or something.

Thanks in advance.

Any good non-wax automotive polish will work every bit as well, and will be cheaper. I use Meguiar's swirl remover as a final polish.

That's really funny about the automotive polish. My tropical storm is actually moving a lot stronger than I want it to, so I just sanded it with 800 then 2000... Which it a bit smoother than factory. Now I just need to polish it. May have to pick up the auto polish and try it.

it's a Track 920A. It's really lost its angular break point after a couple of years of regular use. It's been repolished since then, but it wears off so fast.

I took a look the oob on the track is 4000 abralon.
A couple of alternative polishes.
Old school-
Turtle Wax's Rubbing compound (red tub) & Polishimg compound (green tub) red is coarse, green finer.

Soft scrub (no bleach) can make some nice sheen surfaces, depending on Underlaying grit.

Finished my tropical storm tonight. Took the finish to 2000 grit to make it a bit smoother, and just hit it with meguiars ultimate polish. Taking it to practice tomorrow, she how she does.

I buy all my accessories from split happens deals, there is some polish there in the accessories area. I've never had to use polish, since I've never cleaned my ball to that point, but try it out!

"We stand on guard for thee..." I'll have to see if there's a US equivalent. :)
