Bowling App for iPhone

Not sure if any of you have the iPhone, but if you do, you need to get this app. I've used it for about 3 months now and since I'm on this site regularly now, I just thought I should let you all know about it. Its called "Best Bowling", I use the free version. It keeps track of all the games you bowl, even the specific pins you bowl each ball if you want. Then it will even have a percentage of time you hit specific pins on your first ball, second ball, single pin. All of that. Keeps your strike percentage and all the other percentages. It has so much more stuff it keeps track of too. You can categorize each time you bowl with a color square that you can edit to say "Practice" or "League" so you don't get mixed up with whats league, practice, tournaments, and so on. It really is a must have if you're a serious bowler in my opinion. Its great. I'll post some pics for you. Also, I'm not sure if android has it.

I honestly don't know what more the regular version that you have to pay for has to offer.. because the free version has everything I could want and more. Seems like it has just as much as the paid version. Glad you guys like it though. Here is a tip too, whenever you first use it, when you enter the pins you still have left standing each frame, I think they are automatically in a "Pin Standing" position.. So that means you have to click on every pin(s) that you knocked down till you get to the 1 you have left standing. If you go to the settings, where it says Input>Initial state of the pin.. Click on "Downing" that makes everything so much quicker and easier. Then you just have to click the pin(s) you have left standing instead of clicking them all and if you got a strike just hit next and it will give you a strike.

Settings is where you can edit your Tags, Ball management, what games you want to show up in red or blue, and other stuff.

yeah it will take abit to figure it out to perfectly know it but it will help so after i do 1 game and im on the 2nd game i can check back on it and se what i did in the first game and see how much more i need to adjust and which way

I did not find the app you are talking about on the andriod market but i did find one simular to it. The paid one is mylaneplay 7.4.1 and the free one is 4.9.1 or lite. I went ahead and downloaded the free one to see how it is and works and if I like it then ill be getting the paid one. Thanks to the OP for posting this up or I would have never known that this was available for the smartphones

yeha dave i finaly watch the movie and know just waiting for my ball to get here i could of really used it on sunday my ball was not rolling out at the end just sliding and that was not jsut 1 ball but all my bowling balls that are in my bag even those 2 of them are kinda old have not been resurfaced in like 2 years but thats my brother fault cause he took them to alberta with them and =finaly brought then back to but will huge dents in them,

my games where bad only shot a 109-103-161 i was standing over the right gutter pushing it too the pocket and worse thing the oil was drilling off my ball which means there was water in it

well went it jumps out of the gutter and hits the lane or from the ball return but i used dent cause i cant figure out how to spell the other word that starts with a g i will try to spell it (gouge) something liek that idk i suck i spelling when i get the time to find my camera i will take picture of the dents in the ball there like 6 or 7 all in 1 line alittle gap between them and my track gose right between 2 of them but its also old and i need to take it to get it resurfaced and deoiled at some point.

it would cost me more money to get the blakc widow fix then it is to get a new ball but ocne i have a perfect arsenal then i will go and get it fixed just to keep it for a long time

I'm not exactually sure how a ball gets dented but we had a guy bring in a brand new
Storm Vivid to the Pro shop and he had bowled in a tournament up in Nashville and the
ball had several dents in it after several games. We asked him how it got dented and he
said he hit the gutter a few times and the ball jumped into the air back by the pins when
it hit the flat gutter. No the ball didn't have any gouges in it just dents so maybe the ball
hit the ends of the flat gutter if they were sticking up any. :confused:

I don't get it. That doesn't make any since to me. How does a brand new bowling ball get "dents" in it. In need to see pictures of a dented bowling ball because I just can't accept it's possible lol. If it were at all possible, I certainly doubt hitting the gutter would do it.

Also, one would think that you'd have to not be that great of a bowler to hit the gutter several times in just a couple days (Vivid was just released March 1st I believe), so why would you buy a $200+ bowling ball if you are THAT bad. Something isn't adding up.

I'm sure over a long period of time a bowling ball gets dents in it that are so small and unnoticeable you can't even see it but I don't get this.

I've seen balls get stuck in the machine, and get chewed up pretty bad... but looking like it was in a head on collision? oh my. Hell, I've picked up the 6-7-10 out of the gutter and got my ball back without as much as a scratch on it.

and you're positive it was an actually dent? As in it pushed down the ball and made a crater? I've certainly seen a ball that has gotten a chunk taken out because some sort of machinery broke it in the back. But a chunk taken out of the ball isn't a dent.

my balls dents are at 3/4 inch and 2inch long and 1/2 inch wide and my buddys is a almost a fullinch down it took alot out of it its bigger then your thumb soo we called it a extra finger hole

I'm not sure how a ball gets dented either but the dents his ball had were very,very small
in size they looked like something like if you were to take a ball peen hammer you know
the one with the little round head on it and whacked the ball a few times not real big dents
or anything but if you looked hard enough they were there not enough to hurt anything but
still noticeable if you looked close enough.

yeha on ym buddys ball he has all kinda of marks on his one then the one big dent in it, it looks like someone took a round headed hammer and it hit like 10 times and mine are all move my blak widow but not as big as my buddys i got the pictures of it jsut cant find the cord to upload them onto my computer

sadly yes you have to input the info but you dont have to put it in if you dont want to. I only put in what is needed but I may input more stuff later

All you have to do is enter what you do each frame.. You choose what pins you leave and whether or not you strike or spare.. The app does the rest after that.. It literally takes 1 minute to enter what you do each frame..

You don't even have to do it after each frame if you don't want to.. If I leave a 10 pin in the first frame, get 3 strikes, leave a 7 pin, get 2 strikes.. then leave something like a 2,4,8.. At that point I'll go ahead and enter what I have done each frame because I can obviously remember what pin I left the two times I left 9 in between all the strikes.. I just enter the 2,4,8 after I leave it because its multiple pins and harder to remember after you finish your game what pins you left in that frame.

Well its not let me edit my post, but let me clarify.. It doesn't take 1 minute to do each frame.. It takes a minute to do the whole game.. It takes like 5-10 seconds to enter what you did after each frame

I've tried the Best Bowling based on recommendation here, and I agree that it's good in regards to features, but IMO the UI is a mess. I have been using an app called PinPal, and liked it enough to upgrade to the paid version ($9). It has similar features to Best Bowling (maybe not all, but more than enough IMO), and the UI is much cleaner, and IMO more intuitive/user friendly.
