I've been sucking it up pretty good lately so I figured it's time to get a coach. I got one for next Wednesday. It isn't cheap so I would like to be prepared with questions. I assume the majority of the time he'll just be critiquing my current style, but is there any other questions you guys can think of?
I know I'm going to ask him about a good spare system.
Has anyone else here had a coach? How did it go?

I wanted to get a coach but being in such a desolate area we don't have a good one near us. So I went and earned my coaching certification. I learned a ton doing so, spent some money doing it also. They will probably recommend the 3-6-9 spare system. If that doesn't work well for you and they don't mention it, it can be adapted to a 2-4-6 or 4-8-12. It's your money so ask anything you can think of. I even advise clients to learn how to play multiple lines, multiple releases and such. It all depends on what you want to gain and experience level.

I've had 1 lesson from Teata Semiz, who I think still bowls occasionally on the senior PBA tour, and 2 from Frank Moran who is a regional pro in my area, and one of the Ebonite staffers. Both helped me tremendously with my game. Most of my problems stem from timing. I only bowl once a week, and I've had a couple of 3 year absences from bowling due to other obligations.
As far as spare systems go, if you can find a copy of Rolf Gauger's Triax Spare system article from Bowling This Month and follow it religiously you'll improve your spare game. It does require that you throw a plastic ball for most spares.

If interested in the Triax System heres Rolf Gauger's "Up your Average" 2 part article from bowling news where he tells about it. Also I added Triax chart to the pdf.

Also If it helps heres a "3-6-9 system" spare conversion chart .(The foot movements are based on the board your standing on to throw your strike ball. So say if your standing on 20, you would base your movements off that board.)
