I want to get a new ball soon. I currently have an Ebonite Cyclone and a Columbia300 White Dot. I want something that would be good for medium to heavy oil where my cyclone isn't strong enough. I went into the pro shop in my center and they coach/driller recommended the Hammer Rhythm. The pro shop is currently selling the ball for $150 plus $20 for inserts and a thumb slug plus tax. A little under $200 total. Would this ball be a good ball for when my cyclone isn't working and if so how should I get it drilled, pin up or down? Do you have any other balls you recommend? My pro shop only displays Ebonite International Brands but they have some other stuff in the back. My pro shop is also offering the Ebonite Pursuit and Pursuit S for $315 for both including drilling, inserts, thumb slugs, and tax. I know it's a good deal but I don't know if I want to pay that much and if my parents would let me.

I recommend the DV8 Reckless. It's a great ball with a smooth reaction on medium to medium-heavy oil. How it's drilled would depend a lot on how you bowl.

It would be a terrible idea to get both the Pursuit and Pursuit-S. They aren't different enough to justify getting both. The Rhythm could be a good choice with a fairly conservative layout. Something like the Storm Victory Road Solid or Roto Grip Outlaw would also be great choices.

I want something more medium-heavy to heavy. According to the pro shop's website they do have some DV8 balls available, they just don't say which and for how much.

I dont know too much about the rhythm, but I know the Arson seems to be very popular for those type of conditions. Another good way to go would be an outlaw or the new manic.

The Rhythm has the Arson's core with the Taboo's coverstock so it's a stronger version of the Arson.

Just win the Nexxus from these forums this week and you will have a great ball at an even better price.

thing i can tell you i jsut got the dv8 too reckless and its a great ball move nicly threw the heavy oil and i got it drilled just for length and i cna still make it move into the pocket i payed $220 for my too reckless but if u want a agressive ball you could look at the DV8 hell raiser revenge or the roto grip defiant those are 2 good balls agressive and hit the pocket hard

Striker makes some good points. Its really up to you man, I'm just going off what I've read and heard. I think the Rhythm is new so there isnt too much out on it, but it sounds like quite the combination. I wish you well in your search. Let us know what you finally end up deciding on

Being a solid cpver the Rythm will handle med heavy to heavy and it accepts surface changes will. Other options would be the AMF Grip,The DV8 Reckless, Outlaw,Victory Road solid Motiv Primal or the Radical Times Up solid

I'm probably going to end up getting the Hammer Rhythm. I don't think I'll find anything much better for the price. Thanks all of you for your help. I'll update you when I actually get it.

I just bought the Rhythm. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'll go after school tomorrow and try it out.

I also threw an Ebonite Pursuit S today. My friend just got it. His hand is just slightly smaller than mine. It was also the first 14 pound ball I threw which is the weight I got.

Bowling with my friend today just made me want my ball more. Watching his ball get to the pocket with no problem going 4 mph faster was annoying. My Cyclone could barely make it to the pocket while rolling over the 2nd arrow with my foot on the 25th board.

Just bought one of these online for $69.99 shipped brand new.

Don't really "need" a new ball, but was bidding on one on Ebay and the bidding got up to about $31...plus another $21 to ship....and I was trying to decide if I wanted to spend $64-$65 and up my bid or not. Went online to see what they go for new....all the prices were $82.98-$129.99...then I found one on clearance...$69.99. I saw that it was free shipping...figured WTH. I mean, I did clear $410 in the poker tournament Sunday...so I guess I can afford to splurge a "little".

Not even gonna get it drilled. Still working on my form and adpating to finger-tip and getting used to my Frantic. But...maybe early 2014...late into my upcoming league...or maybe for the start of the next 24-week league end of March 2014...I'll have a new toy to play with!!!

Went 16 pounds though....a little nervous about that.

But...gotta do it. Gotta work on my game, try to get better...fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. No changing balls until March!!
