I was wondering in my quest for that 700 series, and 300 game. (((my best was 692, and 298))) Which ball do most have the greatest success with,
Dull or polished? We have the standard house oil pattern at our alleys (AMF NKC mo, and Vivion).

Kind of depends on the length of the oil pattern and where I have to play
the lanes as to which ball I'll use on short house shots 38 feet or less and
playing a outside line I'll use a shined up ball and if playing a deep inside
line I will use a duller ball not quite as shiny. On longer house patterns 41
feet or more I will use the duller not quite as shiny ball on the outside line
and playing a really deep line I will use the dullest ball I have.

A considerable amount of variables do come into play but on average the intermediate level bowlers seem to do better with shinier balls. Once these players learn more about lane conditions, adjustments, controlling sped, revs, etc and their own abilities/limitations then they seem to use both with success.

Not enough information. I bowl in two different houses that use a "standard" house shot and they play extremely different as one is 39 feet on wood lanes and the other is 42 on synthetic. I cant use the same balls at both places.
Also depends on your speed, revs, tilt, etc

There is not any one ball that will be the correct answer to your question. There are far too many variables involved. Lane surface, lane topography, oil used, bowlers ball speed, rev rate, axis rotation and tilt just to name a few. One suggestion is to watch bowlers with similar style to you and see what they are throwing and where they are playing to score. At that point you can then make an educated guess on what you need. But as always you need to execute to make it happn

my fear is that the bowler I would be watching, is watching me to see what ball, and where I laying it down. (( and endless loop that goes no where)) (:)
