After long absence, need a new ball!

A little background... I've been out of the game for about 5 years due to my local bowling alley closing and life commitments. Shortly before my local bowling alley closing my bowling ball was damaged and I had an emergency ball drilled up (BVP Ambush). I'm pretty sure none of my recent balls were drilled based on my PAP (not sure what it is). I'm a Stroker with med. speed and rev rate (never actually measured).

I want to get back into league bowling starting with Summer leagues later this month. I'm travelling to another city this Friday for another appointment and will taking the opportunity to visit a Pro Shop to get a new ball drilled. I was wondering what info I should provide and what questions I ask so that I can get this done right? I also don't have an idea of what kind of ball I should get yet, but figured that is also something that I can discuss with the Pro Shop.

I appreciate any assistance that can be provided and if more information is needed feel free to ask.

I think the route you are taking is a good one by visiting the pro shop and letting them look at your style to suggest a ball. Taking your old ball can help them too just keep in mind the new ball may differ from the old but not a deal breaker, just gives them as platform to see and start from.

One thing I have noticed in regards to pro shops hours, they are usually open in the evenings and weekends. For me trying to get one open during business hours was impossible so I mention this based on your having to travel for an appointment and I am assuming this is a daytime appointment, that you check with the shop prior to leaving so you can avoid it being closed during your visit. If you have this covered then disregard it.

Thanks for the comment! The Pro Shop I am going to opens at 11AM which will work for me. My only concern is whether or not they will be able to complete the drilling the same day. I would rather not have to drive back the following day for the ball, but I will if I have to.

drilling shouldn't be a problem. after taking all of your measurements and what not, the actual drilling of the ball shouldn't take more than a half hour or soe

A top notch pro shop will WANT to watch you throw a couple of frames. This will allow them to analyze your style and make a recommendation based off of that. This also allows them to measure you PAP so you will get the most out of the ball. Tell them everything you can think of, time away, what you expect from a ball, etc It's better to give too much info rather than not enough.

Thanks for suggestions. I sent them a message on their Facebook page giving them most of the details and what I am looking for, but haven't heard back from them yet. I don't suppose anyone on here is from the Austin, TX area and is familiar with Strike-A-Lott Pro Shop, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Strike-A-Lott-Pro-Shop/165917845815? If I don't hear back from them, I probably give them a call the day before.
