I see on here a few references to people bowling like 15 to 20 games a day most days of the week. That just seemed like a huge number to me. I was just wondering how many games you typically bowl during a day and/or week?

I usually bowl at least 7 games per week during the winter, one 4 game league and one 3 game league. some weeks I find time to get 3 or 4 games of practice in. if I bowl in the local tournament, it can be as many as 9 games in one day. One time when I got some $1/game coupons, I bowled 10 in one day but that was 5 right-handed and 5 left-handed.

You should probably practice at least as many games at a time as you would bowl in league. There are coaches that recommend limiting practice sessions to about an hour. Theory is that most of us lose our focus by then and just wind up practicing our mistakes.

Now that I'm back to work I bowl 10 games a week for leagues and around 3 a day for practice. When I was out on workers comp and all the doctors would let me do is bowl, I was bowling an average of 30 a day. I couldn't see to drive so I was "stuck" at the alley for hours. It was during that time I taught myself how to crank the ball.
Another factor is during summer leagues we get 3 free games a day. During the fall leagues we can purchase a month long pass that is good for as many games you want during open bowling. Obviously with leagues every evening that only helped when I wasn't working and the alley was usually well below capacity.

During winter league this last season I had my 3 games for league and would usually try and get another 10-15 games in for practice during the week. If I bowled a tournament, that would get me up closer to 20 games in the week. Sometimes those games practice games were all in one day other weeks those practice games were spread out over multiple days. My bowling alley offers a coupon that if i bowl 3 games i get the 4th game free so at minimum I'll bowl 4 games when I go.

How do you learn to crank?? I have above average strength, strong hands and arms, but I'll be darn if I can get the high revs I looking for. I do get them, don't get me wrong, but nothing at all comparied to the crankers!! I know its not the strength thing, it must be in the delivery.... I do the lift thing and have the finger tip ect ect... Whats the secret,,

3 games a week for league plus practice. I'll occasionally bowl a few games on the weekend.

Getting high revs is definitely more skill than strength. A certain amount of strength is required, but the key is doing the right things at the right time.

John, the best part was the owner gave me the passes the first 3 months knowing I was still waiting for workers comp to start paying. He fought with me when I went to pay him back when the checks started to arrive.

4 games for the league but usually open bowl on the weekends where we put in around 20 to 25 games during the all you can bowl mornings. For 12.00 you get breakfast and all you can bowl from 8 to noon. If I go during the weekday I use my frequent bowlers card for .99 a game and get around 10 games in.

I used to bowl about 25 a week.. Now I'm at about 11 a week. Two of my three leagues are done and I don't practice as much I used to.

I was told about a "sweet 16" tournament tonight. 16 games, scratch, total pinfall wins. The owner of our alley asked if I wanted to go, said we could car pool the 120 miles. Then he jokingly asked if I would be warmed up before it was over lol
